Parties II Talinger
The one time her father decided he wanted to go out would be to respond to a the awful invitation from the Gucci Twins. Jazz couldn’t believe her luck. She thought that she got lucky when her friends were complaining about having to go, because she hadn’t seen an invitation. However, that morning she came downstairs to, “You still have your dress to your first awards show right?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Well, we’re going to a housewarming party tonight. It’s black tie. That thing is a little much, but I suspect it’s the only nice black dress you have.” Disappointment dripped in her father’s voice as he began to make himself his morning oatmeal.
The pain of his judgement kept Jazz quiet, and she simply agreed to be there on time.
This time she was on time. She didn’t want to disappoint her father anymore than she already did. She found him and kissed his cheek softly without smudging on his cheek. “Hello daddy.” She smiled warmly.
“Good you’re on time. Go say thank you to the hosts.” Her father coldly her father turned from her back to the conversation he had been part of before.
With her confidence knocked a bit, Jazz went to do exactly as he asked her to do.As she did so she spotted Eric off in the corner drinking from a small glass.
The last time she saw him was on her door step after a perfect night. Jazz had gotten really drunk, and had made a fool out of herself. However, Eric didn’t seem to mind. She danced playfully all the way home, and on the door step to her home she almost thought that he’d kiss her. But instead he squeezed her hand and told her it was a great night. Then he was gone.
She grabbed two champagnes and crossed the floor carefully before offering him a glass. “It’s nice to see you here, Eric. You look...” Her dark brown eyes, unadulterated by contacts that night, scanned him before a playful grin pulled at her red lips. “Incredibly... handsome tonight.”
