Humans being persistent predators is probably a terrifying concept to Eridians. A creature that slowly follows you until your body forces you to sleep knowing you will be unable to wake up as they inevitably get closer and closer.

Grace’s explanation of old human hunting practices probably spawned a whole new genre of horror on Erid.

Imagining the conversation at the end of Project Hail Mary between Rocky and Adrian about Grace following similar lines to the closet argument from the beginning of Dead Boy Detectives:

Rocky: Please can we adopt this alien? Adrian: Absolutely not! Rocky: Pretty please? Adrian: Ugh, fine.

I mean, Rocky had been gone for a very long time and Adrian waited for him all those years and would probably just be happy to have him back, but also, Rocky is now best friends with this living human and is inviting them into the family, and there may be some conflicting feelings about that at first. Still, I’m confident they work things out eventually.

I was mostly thinking about how some depictions of the Eridians are a little too monolithic for me (they can have bad opinions TOO #thealienisahoax), but this is the funniest thing ever. Light is probably one of the fakest sounding things ever for a species that cannot sense it. AND, things that travel at its speed apparently TIME TRAVEL...? Suuuure... That's DEFINITELY what happened when the crew got lost in space for all those years...

lmaoooooo exactly!! If you can't see light, I can only imagine it would be on the same level of Sounds Like Nonsense (even if it isn't) as dark matter or some shit.

Half the wackos on Erid think it's all a made up conspiracy hoax and Grace's existence is faked for a cover-up, and the other half think it's a mystical woo-woo force that lets Grace do magic and see the future. 🤣

Meanwhile Grace is stuck at the center of it all, rattling the xenonite of his enclosure in Scandalized Science Teacher.

The Eridians are NOT monolithic; they are confused about light in numerous, disagreeing, opinionated ways and they're making it Grace's problem.

General Caregiving Guide: Eridans

Typical Stature: eridans are on the smaller side ranging from 1'5" to 2'3"

Diet: seafood and enemies.

Temperament: cranky, prideful, needy

Preferred Environment: eridans require a basic seadwelling environment, but unlike feferies they will murder anything that enters their tank. Eridans prefer ranged weapons and will become sad if not provided access to their favorite troll safe nerf brand sniper rifles.

Enrichment: as mentioned above, they love Nerf guns, but also books, eridans will tear through libraries reading anything they can get their fins on. It is unclear how much they understand what they read, but it's clear they love it. Additionally, Eridan's love to do pagent work, they love to perform and be the center of attention, though it's the caretakers job to make sure they don't overexzert themselvs.

Lifespan: 60 to 100 years

Caretaking Tips: Much like Vriskas, Eridan's require constant and consistent attention, though what separates the two is the Eridan's need to be their caretakers favorite. They will become very aggressive and moody if they do not feel that they are the number one priority of their caretaker and don't do well in families. The best home for an eridan is a lonely single individual looking for a lifelong companion to dote on endlessly.

Welp, here you go. I decided to draw a whole bunch of Eridans from various AUs and plots of mine. I mostly stuck to the ones that had well-defined stories and interesting designs. There are at least two more I could have thrown in, and I might later but LATER. I didn’t bother with shading for the most part but yeah. Enjoy?

Posted means it’s up on AO3. Planned means I have made an outline and hope to get to it at some point. Unplanned means I have made no outline. Maybe I’ll make one, or maybe it’s an idea I don’t think I’ll pursue.

1.      Semesters and Strife. Written. Posted.

Eridan Ampora. Age: 16 years. (7-8 sweeps.)

Member of the Hope Dorm in SBURB High School. Completely human. Yep, nothing weird or alien about him here, as far as he knows. Wearing his school uniform, which he hates the colors of.

Relationships: Best friends with Roxy. Hate crush on Jake.

Status: What the fuck is going on?

 2.      My one Apocalypsestuck. Not written or planned.

Eridan Ampora. Age: Probably 7-8 sweeps or something.

Former member of the Adorabloodthirsty gang. Present member of the Alpha-Beta gang. A previous injury destroyed his vocal chords and damaged his gills, so he communicates in his own version of sign language. Hasn’t bothered to tell his former team he’s not dead. Wearing his usual makeshift cloak with the hood down. (I don’t know why his glasses are like that I guess it’s a recurring thing drawing him.)

Relationships: Roxy’s Moirail. Rivalry with Jake?

Status: Meh.

 3.      Falling for Angels. A DirkJake Angelstuck fic. No plan to finish.

Eridan Ampora. Age: 18 years.

A grumpy hunter living with Roxy. Has a weird accent and odd cultural ideas. Doesn’t like Angels. Wearing his typical hunting gear.

Relationships: Living with Roxy.

Status: About to shoot the guy with the wings.

Eridan Ampora. Age: 15 years.

A weird fishboy found in a research facility that was raided due to evidence of inhuman behavior. Currently resides in SBURB aquatic research center. Wearing some pants they gave him.

Relationships: Apparently knew Rose’s mom before she died? Cared for by Kanaya (who’s in her 20s)

Status: Where’s Kan? Maybe Rose would know.

His Highness Eridan Ampora. Age: 50-60 Years. About 25 sweeps.

Ruler of the Aquarius kingdom, a center of magic and research. Angel-touched. Wearing clothes from before Kanaya got control of his wardrobe as the royal seamstress.

Relationships: Widowed moirail to Roxy Lalonde. Godfather of Rose and Dave Lalonde.

Status: Where’s Rose? Maybe Kan would know.

  6.      Petstuck. Unwritten. Planned.

“Aquarius” Eridan Ampora.

A troll who ran away from his master and is presently planning insurrection with the help of some humans. Wearing clothes he picked out after Roxy took him to the store. Doesn’t know what “hipster” is or why people are calling him that but is happy to be in clothes not from his owner.

Relationships: Awfully fond of Roxy and Dirk.

Status: Would rather be alone.

 7.      Lost Prince. Some written. Planned.

Aiden (But people keep calling him Eridan?) Age: 18 years.

A simple guy from a small town who is coming to realize his entire life is a lie. Wearing his pajamas because that’s what he got kidnapped in.

Relationships: No one will tell him. He suspects Dirk is involved.

Status: Tired and confused.

 8.      Fugitivestuck? Not written or planned.

Eridan Ampora. Age: About 8-9 sweeps.

A rogue Aspect who escaped the Hope internment camp and is traveling with the Limeblood Callie as he searches for the rest of his friends. Wearing a cloak that helps hide his identity.

Relationships: Officially in a moiralligiance with Roxy. Unofficially in some kind of poly-pale clusterfuck with all the Alpha kids plus Callie and is in denial about it.

Status: Misses his friends.

 9.      Two Princes, a Page, and a Cat. Oneshot with a longer plot. Oneshot is written and posted. The rest not.

Eridan Ampora. Age: Early 20s.

Lives with his two boyfriends in an apartment with a cat. Works at an aquarium with a magical side-job. Wearing his lounge clothes, which he’s too afraid to wear out in public.

Relationships: Boyfriend of Dirk and Jake. Best friends with Roxy.

Status: The most content of all of them.

 10.   Another labstuck. Not written or planned.

Aquarius. Age: 16-17.

Lab subject in the Alternia wing with the power to manipulate water. Would probably be useful in breaking out of the place if he could be motivated to take the risk. It seems something is holding him back. Wearing the issued lab outfit. Hates it. Pissed the lab doesn’t let him have hair gel.

Relationships: Apparently he has a friend in another wing of the lab? Some girl? Also got a solid “I guess I’d tap that” from Karkat’s mental musings, beating Vriska in appeal but not Terezi.

Status: Wondering if he’s going to get in trouble for this.

Eridan Ampora. Age: About 50 years. 23 Sweeps.

Secretly a Seadweller and a powerful Hope magician. Doesn’t get along with most of the residents of Skaia university. Wearing his human disguise with dad-fashion.

Relationships: Widowed moirail to Roxy Lalonde. Godfather of Rose Lalonde.

Status: Where the fuck did Rose go?

 12.   Another Angelstuck. Unwritten. Unplanned.

Eridan. Age: About 18 years.

An angel separated from his culture at the age of five. Travels around with Jake, hiding from humans and hunting for food. Wearing some pants he stole at some point. Shirts are a bother.

Relationships: Bonded to Jake in a relationship that defies labels, mostly because he doesn’t know the labels in the first place.

Status: Where’s Jake?

 13.   Feathers AU. Being posted.

Eridan Ampora. Age: 16-17.

An Aspect and member of Team Alpha. Great at killing imps and attracting unwanted attention from scientists and cultists. Wearing his typical clothes. Kinda annoyed #9 stole his fashion.

Relationships: Best friends with Roxy. Smitten with Dirk.

Status: This is probably a Time Aspect’s fault or something.

 14.   Another labstuck. Unwritten. Unplanned.

Prince. Age: 7-8 sweeps.

An “unstable” subject with incredible destructive power. Other subjects are warned not to interact with him. Wearing the lab uniform.

Relationships: Presently attached to Bard’s hip. Knew someone named Rocks or something?

Status: Save him.

 The Godfathers:

 Would probably argue over who was a better Godfather. I hope they wouldn’t come to blows over it because I don’t know who would win and the magic fight would probably raze the surroundings. In the end they’re both sad Roxy died and are doing their best to raise her child(ren).

 The High school students:

 A couple of guys who were concerned only with school until shit got bigger. Feathers Eridan is basically a chiller, less high-strung, more human, more in love with Dirk version of SaS Eridan.

 SaS Eridan: You. You look normal. What’s your story?

Feathers Eridan: I dunno, have superpowers? Stalked and experimented on by scientists?

SaS: Sounds about right. Nice to me-wait, do you have the Hope Dorm’s symbol tattooed on your damn hand?

Feathers Eridan: I guess, yeah.

SaS: Never mind we can’t be friends.

 (Don’t be rude to him, SaS Eridan. He could kick your ass.)

 The Lab Rats:

 They all have fairly different experiences, but they’ve all been trapped in a lab against their will. A main difference is #4 is fairly harmless, #14 has his angels, and #10 could rip the blood out of your body.

 The Survivors:

 All survivors in a different sense. #2 survived a near-mortal wound and a world ravaged by monsters. #8 survived hiding from the Condesce and another later nasty injury. #6 Survived an abusive owner. I hope they don’t get into an argument over who had it worse.

 The Angels:

 They’re both angels but, #3 is a fallen angel and has a very strong (and at least somewhat justified) “me or them” mentality. He is very much about to shoot #12. Someone stop him.

 The Amnesiac and Cat Lover:

 Don’t have anything in common. Just the only ones left. They do have a boyfriend in common though.

 Maybe if you send me two of them I’ll make them fight or whatever you suggest.
