The fear had subsided. But Raven couldn’t forget how it had felt. How it had completely taken hold of her mind. She could change her face, her body, she could walk in and out of any life she chose – but she had never lost her mind before. That it could be taken from her so easily, from some thing she hadn’t seen since Central Park. She wanted to claw its eyes out with her fingers.
But the fear the Enchantress had forced on her had revealed something. Something personal, something she would never have suspected within herself, let alone voiced aloud. She did not want to leave. She was afraid of running, and so tired of it.
Perhaps it was time to try holding on.
“Erik?” she called out gently. Finding him had never been difficult. They were connected, that had been clear for so long now. But it was still shocking, to see him sitting there. Holding that. “Erik, what’s going on?”
