Our capital is named Washington D.C but people just refer to it as Washington. We also have a state named Washington. Just Washington, not Washington D.C. As you can probably tell, this may lead to some confusion. Washington D.C isn’t even in Washington, it borders Maryland, and Virginia. Regular Virginia, not West Virginia.
