hmmmm today I will think about Disney's raging homophobia and how I'm gonna throw the biggest monkey wrench into the homophobic shit they did with Turbo in canon
in my AU Felix and Turbo almost dated in secret back in the 80's but Felix chickened out of it and wound up rejecting Turbo because. y'know. gestures vaguely at the general sentiment towards gay men at the time. anyways between this and the rampant homophobia he witnessed from players and even a few fellow arcadians he kinda recoiled into the closet and internalized a lot of shit. kinda grew to resent his own sexuality in the process, seeing it as a failing of his.
fortunately now he has a very openly queer best friend to help him come to terms with all that shit and truly accept himself for who he is. no fronts or disguises. plus as an added bonus he finally gets to talk out his unrequited love with someone and finally bury it in the past.
also they may be like almost half his size but Anomaly WOULD make Ralph apologize for the "nelly wafer" comment one way or another even though knowing Ralph he'd have an easier time apologizing for the homophobia than he would just. apologizing to Turbo in general
as a small fun fact: Turbo would use the original eight stripe flag. I know it was used a few years before his time but he's an old bastard and I think he'd appreciate the extra colors.
4, 5, and 15 for anomaly :3
4. would you be considered a main character, side character, villain, or something else?
I spend enough time as a background character irl tbh Anomaly is the star of the show in their AU. They don't really know what to do about it though since they're also not really used to all the attention.
5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?
quite a few tbh!! Apart from inheriting all of my mundane abilities, Anomaly is a broken, unfinished character mod for a fighting game. This gives them a few interesting traits, but the main one is just being a glitch. They're largely in control of their glitchiness due to just existing like this for so long, and they use it in much the same way that Vanellope did: to warp short distances, pass through walls, and become temporarily intangible.
They also have the ability to pull a few weapons from hammer space, mainly a large Bowie knife and a metal bat. These two weapons are a part of their code, and cannot be truly lost. When they're done using them, they just dematerialize.
They also have a very broken "powered up" form that they refer to as "Exxen". Exxen is still Anomaly in terms of personality and conscious, the only difference is that they have almost zero impulse control. To give you an idea of the dynamic, they're basically what would happen if your intrusive thoughts got to take a front seat. The id to Anomaly's ego. They were only intended to be utilized as a "final smash" of sorts, but due to the buggy nature of Anomaly's code, they just kind of act as an indicator for how bad their mental health is at any given time. This form can fly and gains the ability to summon an smg alongside the other weapons in their lineup. Apart from that, the rest of their abilities were never coded in, so they have the same strength and speed as Anomaly. They're just way more feral and have a gun.
I haven't really drawn them much yet but if you're curious they're pretty much entirely based on my Roblox avatar. Unlike Anomaly, their mask also functions as their face, and can emote and bite.
15. how does your self insert play a role in the plot of the story? do they help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.?
They unwittingly kick off the main plot of their AU by pickpocketing the wrong guy and accidentally stealing a whole ass man: Turbo, who was trapped in an encrypted .zip file. From there, their main objective is helping Turbo find his way home, as they really don't know his whole story from the get go and just know that he was stolen from an arcade. Everyone in the protag lineup is a bad person, but somehow they wind up being the heroes of this story.
I've changed the story quite a bit from what's in my carrd tbh I gotta update it but the long and short of it is that Turbo was stolen from the arcade by a Trojan who snuck in using a new game's online leaderboard as an entry point. He had been trapped in Sugar Rush's respawn system, but the Trojan had heard of his story while staking the place out and decided that his code might make the perfect foundation for a new virus. Anomaly didn't mean to stumble in on all of this, so they're just here to help him survive and find his way home.
Unfortunately, they got attached at some point in the process, and now they don't want him to leave.
unfortunately it has been a very Turbo mood lately
Finger guns and texts at 3am with turbo? :)
Finger guns: Do you and your f/o(s) joke around a lot? Who's the more serious one in your bond? Who's always cracking the jokes?
Anomaly and Turbo are both mean and cynical jokesters. A good chunk of their humor consists of making jabs at each other's appearances and behaviors, as well as coming up with crude nicknames for each other. However, the common understanding at this point is that it's all meant in good fun, and that the more specific jabs tend to be more affectionate than hostile.
Turbo takes things more seriously than Anomaly does most of the time. However, Anomaly can sometimes miss the point to a startling degree, accidentally coming off as deadpan as a result.
Texts at 3am: What kinds of positive things would your f/os say about you?
Turbo is not the best at positive affirmations. His grandiose personality tends to get in the way, as he sees everyone as somewhat inferior to him by default.
However, when he really wants to compliment someone, he has found a workaround: the half-compliment. Rather than directly giving someone praise, he will just tell someone that a negative trait of theirs isn't nearly as bad as they think it is, or that, despite being the way they are, they do have one or two positive traits.
Though many people view this method of complimenting others as insulting and disingenuous, Anomaly can see the effort he's putting in just to get past his own superiority complex, and takes each compliment he gives to heart. One thing they often get reassurance on is that Turbo genuinely sees them as a well-meaning person. Despite them being hostile at times, Turbo makes sure to remind them that he knows what constitutes true villainy, and that they haven't even come close to crossing that line.
I've had this edgy thing sitting in my files for the past month so uh
anyone up for a turbug at this hour
13 and 14 for the Villain ask meme with any F/o! - Hussyshusbands
13: "Would you keep your involvement secret from the world to try and minimalize the chances of it being used against you or would you become the ultimate evil team that no one dares cross?"
F/O: Turbo
Turbo would definitely want his name up in lights. Preferably, he'd want to be the hero, but negative attention is still attention. He'd love being the center of attention, feared by the law-abiding citizens of the internet, hated by those who wanted him dead.
Anomaly just doesn't want to die. They cause some trouble on their own, yes, but they don't like drawing attention to themself. They just want to live their life of mild annoyance and casual violation of the law in peace.
They bicker over this question fairly often.
14: "What song do you and your F/O (s) listen to when you are carrying out your dastardly plans? What is your villain ‘theme song?’"
F/O: Postal Dude
Usually there's no soundtrack to their destruction. It's just frantic screams and pleads for life. However, on the rare occasion that there is music, it depends entirely on who kicks the tunes on first. Dude prefers hard rock and metal, whereas Firebug is more likely to pick horrorcore rap.
@hussyshusbands
life's hard when you're Turbo. wake up, be a general asshole to everyone, find more ways to puff up your ego, deal with the horrific mutations your poor past life choices have left carved into your very code, it's an endless struggle.
I was originally gonna post this without Turbo's racing stripes and tails because I forgot to draw them and why should I care but oop I care I do care I'm sorry dude
