You are half my soul, as the poets say
A/N: I stumbled upon The Song of Achilles' He is half my soul, and there you go, the result of my brainrot ✨, also please bear with me, i am no good 🙇♀️
POV: Erwin wrote Y/N a poem 😭💗
you are half my soul,
as the poets say
i am a broken man
with a shattered soul
so how did i find myself
being loved by a soul as pure as you?
i am a man of many sins
i have fallen from grace
so why did the gods bestowed upon me
an angel that is you?
i am a selfish beast
sealing other's fate for my gain
so how did it come to be
that you generously gave your heart to me?
i am a cruel monster
with so many blood on my hands
so what right do i have
to be saved by you?
you are half my soul,
as the poets say
a soul different from mine
a soul that shines so divine
a soul that is kind
a soul I was lucky to find
you are half my soul,
as the poets say
and i cannot thank the heavens enough
for bringing me to you
you are half my soul,
as the poets say
i may be unworthy
with this wrecked and wretched soul of mine
but it is yours
till the end of time
you are half my soul,
as the poets say
A Thousand Years

I will come to you.
In another life...
In a gentler world...
I will come to you.
I will find you and love you with all my heart again.
I promise you...
Those words echoed in his head. Like a lullaby haunting him.
Whose words were these?
Who are you?
He was tossing and turning in his bed, wanting to wake from this heartbreaking dream. This wasn't a nightmare, no it wasn't. This was a memory. But of who?
Then he opened his eyes. Cerulean colored eyes that have long shed tears of this dream.
It's that dream again.
He rubbed his hands on his face to wipe the tears falling down his cerulean eyes and he sighed. For as long as he can remember, he has always been visited by this dream. A voice of a woman. Her oath. But to whose voice did they belong ?
I must be losing my mind, he thought. Maybe this was the effect of reading too much. He sighed again and chuckled.
His phone vibrated, alerting him of a message. He took his phone from the bedside cabinet he put it on and read the message.
Hange will be swinging by the café today at 9 AM.
It was a message from his childhood friend, Levi. As direct as ever, he thought. Was he inviting or was he just informing? He chuckled again from his friend's message. Then his phone rang, it was from Hange. He and Hange met in college. And from there, things just picked up their pace and a friendship like no other bloomed.
'Yo, Erwin. How are you? I'll be dropping by Levi's café later. Wanna come see me? I have lots of stories to tell and lots of books for you to read.', she laughed hysterically.
'I see, you're as energetic as ever Hange.', he replied.
'Of course I am. I'll be seeing my buddies so I'm excited.', she responded enthusiastically.
'You don't have any classes this morning right?', she confirmed.
'Hmm my classes are all scheduled in the afternoon till evening so alright, I'll be there.'
'Cool! See you Commander!', those were Hange's last words before she ended the call.
Commander huh, he hasn't heard those words for too long. For some reason, Hange has always been calling him that since college. According to Hange he just gives off this commander vibes, that's why he calls him that. She's crazy and he knows that so he just kind of let her call him that.
He got out of bed and went to take a shower. Maybe this will take my mind off that dream, he thought. Thinking that maybe he just needs more social interaction. He's just been reading too much lately, maybe that's why his brain is getting more creative by the day and creating these weird sorts of dreams. As he twisted the shower knob, he sighed and hoped that the water would wash away the aching pain in his heart from the dream he had.

As he entered Café Kuschel, the café his friend Levi owned, he could already hear Hange's hysterical laughs inside. He then spotted Hange sitting by the table near the counter where Levi was and as soon as Hange spotted him, she enthusiastically called out his name.
'Hello Commander or should I say Professor Erwin?' Hange teased.
'Call me whatever you like Hange.'
'So, how've you been Erwin? Levi told me that you were having these nightmares.' Hange asked.
'Didn't take you for a snitch Levi.' He looked at Levi with a smirk.
Levi then responded with his iconic, 'Tsk!'.
He and Hange could just laugh then he added, 'Well, I wouldn't really call it a nightmare Hange. It's more of, I don't know. A memory?'.
Hange looked at him with pitiful eyes. 'What?', he asked.
'It's hard being a literature professor huh.', Hange said, full of concern.
'What? No, it's, I do-
'You read too much Erwin.' she said jokingly.
'Of course I have to, it's kind of my job and you know how much I love reading.' He retorted.
'I know, but seriously it's taking a toll on you professor hahaha. You know I brought some books from the publishing company today. But seeing you, like this. I don't think you need books, Erwin.' she looked at him with a stern face.
'Ok, so what do you think I need?', he curiously asked.
'A girlfriend.' Hange confidently suggested. Wait, when was the last time this guy went on a date, Levi?', Hange asked their mutual friend.
'Oi, what do you think of me? I don't pry on his personal life too much, tsk.', Levi answered Hange's question.
'Eh, is that so? You're a lucky guy you know. Even if you look pissed all the time you still got yourself a cute girlfriend. So, how's Petra?' Hange asked with a teasing smirk while raising her eyebrows.
'Erwin's last date was 5 months ago with a redhead woman he met in this café also 5 months ago. But she never called him again because according to her, it seems like he's always spacing out, and nor did he ever call her again because according to him 'she's not the one I was looking for'. And that's it, that's all I know'. Levi confessed.
Erwin could only shake his head in disappointment. Meanwhile Hange on the other side, was very amused to Levi's detailed confession. 'Wow, that was amazing Levi. You'd snitch on your friend so you can keep your love life private huh.'
'Yep and I did not expect that.', Erwin said while sipping his coffee.
'Ok, back to you Erwin. What the hell was 'she's not who I was looking for'? What exactly are you looking for, Mr. Professor?' Hange asked.
'I, I don't know. I just feel like I'm waiting for someone.' He replied.
'Who? That woman from your dreams?' Hange teasingly asked.
Then Erwin went silent.
Who was she? Am I waiting for her? Is she even real? These thoughts came to Erwin's mind.
'Woah there, what got you silent all of a sudden? Don't tell me you-
Hange's response was interrupted by a call from her phone.
'Yes, hello Y/N. What's the matter? What can I help you with?' Hange answered her phone.
Meanwhile Erwin stood up from his chair and signaled Levi that he was now going. When Hange saw this, she put her phone down for a while.
'Wait, for a while Y/N, I just need to give something to a troubled soul.
Erwin, wait, before you leave, here take this book. I know I told you no books for today but please support us hahaha. It's the new book from the writer I kept telling you about, you know, the one I was handling. I also gave you her first book, have you read it already?'
'No, I haven't', Erwin honestly denied.
'Ugh, you're missing out you know. She's good. Anyway I'm still giving you her new book in case you change your mind.' Hange said as she handed him the book.
'Alright, thank you Hange.' He said.
Hange winked at him and before he could exit the café, Hange shouted, 'Go, get yourself a girlfriend, Commander!'. Then burst out laughing hysterically.
Levi can only sigh in annoyance as he was wiping the cups clean.

What an exhausting day, he thought. His classes started at 1 and his last class ended at 8 and he just got home.
9:30, was the time shown on his digital clock when he looked at it. On this cold night, in his dark room, he felt lonely. Should I really get a girlfriend, he wondered. Well, coming home to someone doesn't sound so bad at all. But for some reason, he just can't, he's just not able to commit to any woman. He tried dating a few years back, but it just won't work out. Was the universe conspiring against him? He can only ask. And as he pondered upon these things, he sighed heavily. He sat down on the couch in his living room and as he put his things down, a book suddenly fell from his bag. It was the book Hange gave him earlier this morning. And when he was about to pick up the book, which was lying with its back exposed, he found himself in disbelief.
'I will come to you. In another life, in a gentler world, I will come to you, I will find you and love you with all my heart again. I..I promise you.'
He couldn't believe it, the words he kept on hearing in his dreams. It was here, it was there, written on the book. He then scanned the book looking for its author but to his dismay the author was using a pen name and there was no picture. There was also no useful information about the author of the book. He got so intrigued that he unconsciously dialed Hange on the phone.
'Oh, Erwin. This is a shock. What, missed me already? Or have you come to inform me that you got yourself a girlfriend?', Hange said, still teasing him even in a phone call.
'No, Hange. I- I need to, the author of the book that you gave to me this morning. I have to, no, I, I need to talk to her', Erwin answered.
'Eh, see I told you she's good isn't she? Anyway if you want to meet her, her book will be published tomorrow. I'll text you the details of when and what time.' Hange replied.
'Ok, thank you so much Hange.', Erwin responded and ended the call.
He cannot believe what is happening. What game is the universe trying to play at him? Who is this woman? Is the author the woman in his dreams? No, I cannot go jumping to conclusions, he thought. I'll know when I see her tomorrow. And he was hopeful that by tomorrow he'll finally get the answers to his questions.
--
Tomorrow finally came. Erwin got up early that morning and jogged for a few kilometers to calm his nerves down. He was nervous as hell. He was confused. He doesn't understand what's happening. He knows he's a smart man but his dream, the book, the author, it's just something that cannot be logically explained.
I'll finally have the answers by today, he told himself while buttoning his white polo sleeves. After getting ready, Erwin immediately drove to the place that Hange texted him.
When he arrived there, it was crowded. He didn't expect this. Maybe she's really a good writer after all, he thought. He then proceeded to sit on one of the chairs near the stage.
He was getting anxious by the second. Will he really get the answers he needs? And all the what ifs started pouring inside his mind. Then the crowd applauded, recognizing that the author has finally arrived on stage. And when he looked at the stage he finally saw her. He was staring at her. He couldn't help it. He just couldn't take her eyes off her. For some reason it felt like finally solving the puzzle. He just took one look at her and it already felt like she was the missing piece. Then he noticed it, she was looking back at him. She was staring at him too. They were looking in each other's eyes like two souls who've always longed and yearned for each other. And slowly, flashes of images, of memories came crashing in his mind. Memories of a different world, of a different life where they weren't lucky enough to love and hold each other for a long time. Memories of a cruel world that separated them.
What the hell is this?
The crowd went silent for a second. Then Hange cleared her throat and whispered the author's name loudly, 'Y/N!'.
Y/N, he remembered now. Y/N, the woman he loved the most. Y/N, who made the cruel world beautiful. Y/N, the one he's been waiting for all this time. Y/N, who through her book, has found him. Y/N, who fulfilled her promise.
Then their eye contact broke when Y/N looked down at the podium so she could start her speech. And when she looked up again, he was gone. He stood up and left his chair because he needed to get himself together. He was so happy he could burst. The feeling was overwhelming and he could not contain himself. He needed to go somewhere to calm himself. In a secluded alley in the bookshop, he pulled himself together. He was sobbing uncontrollably. It all made sense now. They were each other's soulmates. Their love is a love that transcends lifetimes. Then he heard it,
'I will come to you. In another life, in a gentler world, I will come to you, I will find you and love you with all my heart again. I..I promise you.'
When she said those lines, it was exactly the voice of the woman in her dreams. The voice that kept on reminding him of her promise. The voice that expressed her undying love for him. The voice that he missed so much.
---
When the event was over, he gathered his courage to finally come to her. His heart was pounding like crazy. He just can't wait to hold her again. He just can't wait to kiss her again. He just can't wait to love her once more.
And there she was, as beautiful as ever. He walked towards her, and it just felt so surreal. As he was getting near her, it felt like coming home. The thought of her, so close this time filled his heart with warmth. And when she felt his presence behind her, she slowly turned around. Their eyes met once more.
God you're so beautiful, he thought.
He was getting so nervous and he was unsure what to say. But the gentle look of her eyes calmed him down. Her loving stare that he missed so much. He just can't wait to be with her again.
I love you Y/N, he thought.
And with a smile on his face, he told her,
'You found me Y/N.'
