I just wanted to let you know that even though I'm no longer active on Tumblr (I moved to Twitter and discord mostly), you're the reason I have mourning geckos. Hey I just realized you've addressed trades and crate sanctity, but how do you handle the removal of too small bones (you mentioned this specifically) or crate/bedding cleaning?

I know this is a bit of an older ask, I’ve been a bit preoccupied obv but I thought of this ask last week when Creed retreated to his crate and sort of just expected to be left alone when he was done playing with a rough-and-tumble bulldog puppy. Said puppy had not been taught crate sanctity and had tried to pursue him into the crate, leading to Creed’s very dumb-founded realization that his crate was less safe than he’d previously thought. I shooed puppy away once I realized what had happened and shut the crate door to give poor Creed a break. 😂

Too small bones I trade for, always. Not worth reaching in and possibly getting bit. I do try to take chews away before they hit that “too small” status. I had a puppy earlier this week that has been snarling and growling at his owners when they reach down to take a treat. They’ve been dog-whispering it, making that stupid noise and smacking him on the side whenever he does it. Unsurprisingly, he’s been getting worse. I showed the husband what to do instead and, also unsurprisingly, he didn’t listen and recently got snapped at for his troubles. The wife approached me asking for me to show her because she doesn’t want to be forced to get rid of their puppy they just got 3 weeks ago, and I showed her the same no-muss no-fuss trades and by the end of it she was able to get things from her puppy without a fight. The only problem was getting stuff that was small enough to be swallowed- most dogs unwilling to give things up will try to hurriedly swallow when they see someone reaching for something, so the advice there was the same. Either let him have stuff he can swallow and don’t try to take it from him, or ask for it back before it hits that point.

As far as cleaning in a safe place like a crate, generally I advise doing it when the dog is not present. Your folks specifically have a fenced yard that you can just toss the dogs out into, sure. But even just banishing the dog from the room solves the problem of the dog that guards their crate.

Have you tried non-throw games, or the Foursquare puppy thing? Maybe try a new target game or those agility tunnels - a new thing that you can learn together to strengthen your confidence before returning to what you did before. Baby steps!

It’s pretty much a disc-specific anxiety since we’ve done other things. I’ve chatted with a friend, and I think I’m feeling a bit better about my plan.

I love the wildtype betta and tbh the fact that they’re not overly-aggressive assholes (duh they weren’t bred to be) is...

Some individual fish, especially still in the wild splendens complex, can be buttheads, but, as a whole, yeah, they’re less aggressive. My Betta albimarginata show dominance and will nip now and again, but it doesn’t get harsh. They still can be found more swimming normally together rather than apart.

Yes. Yes they do. And of course the customers get annoyed with the long wait because we are also trying to make other orders around theirs.

ALSO there is nothing worse than needing to make a lot of fries. Sandwiches arent so bad. The fries are awful!
