Photo dump of my friend Don's 1972 #Gibson #ES325, that he bought back on November 2, 1974 and has kept for the last 48 years. Don is well known in the #Toronto music and sound production scene, having worked with artists such as Anne Murray and Gordon Lightfoot at Toronto's famous Eastern Sound studios back in the 1980s, and then spending a 30 year career in sound engineering and production at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) headquarters. If you have ever watched @itsrickmercer's show the Rick Mercer Report, you have heard Don's sound work! Swipe to the last shot to see Don playing the guitar back in 70s, and the penultimate shot showing the original bill(s) of sale. The first one, dated Nov 1, 1974, was the deposit he put down of $100, and the second one, dated the next day, was him going back the to pay off the balance of $285.56. The guitar was purchased at a shop I know well, where I myself purchased at least half a dozen guitars, multiple pedals, a few amps, and countless picks and packs of strings; @stevesmusic in #Montreal, Canada. The bill shows their original address on "Craig" Street (which was renamed to rue Saint-Antoine by the time I was shopping there about 10 years after this guitar was purchased). Don told me would have loved to buy an #ES335, but got the 325 because it was the "least expensive Gibson (he) could afford as a teenager with only a part time job"! I know the feeling brother! 😂 PS: The $386 CAD he spent in 1974 equivalizes to about $2,300 CAD (about $1,650 USD) today. I challenge anyone to find me a comparable semihollow Gibson for $2,300 CAD/$1650 USD today! Don might be putting this guitar up for sale soon...if he does I will keep you posted. I'd love to buy it myself...but I already have a 325. And besides, I am poor. 🤣 #gibsones325 #guitar #guitars #guitarra #chitarra #guitarre #electricguitar #vintageguitars #vintagegibson #gibsonguitars #guitarphotography
