Kari entered the library thinking it was empty. It wasn’t until she neared one of the shelves that she realized she wasn’t alone. She felt a lump rise in her throat as she spotted Everett a few feet away. Praying he wouldn’t notice her, she quickly skimmed the shelf trying to find the book she needed.
