Escape Princess shares some humor with ClownQuest. For example, in the opening cut scene where the protagonist is about to get kidnapped by the villain (on her and her brother's birthday) she notices that his prophesied return is on her birthday and she hopes he remains sealed away because... "His return would be the worst fucking birthday present ever."

And then the villain breaks in through her balcony door and when she asks who he is, he answers "I'm your worst fucking birthday present."

Okay, some Design Thoughts on Escape Princess. Anything tagged "Escape Princess" will likely be about this game I'm developing. The basic idea is that it is a puzzle game following our protagonist trying to escape from the dark lord's castle. It will be made in RPGMaker MV, and I dont have the patience to teach myself how to code.

Right now I'm debating on whether or not to include an option to play a prince and princex as well. It'd be nice, though designing the princex would be a bit harder, because my own skills and talents in pixel art is still somewhat lacking.

The other big debate I'm having to deal with is whether or not to include combat in the game. My original intention with this game was to make it a silly puzzle game without combat, but then I realized I kind of wanted to add in rooms that the player would need to come back to and I can't exactly think of any incentives for that in a puzzle game, beyond trophies.
