My fan made design for Palmer from Escaping Denver! (I am just slightly obsessed with him.)
This is a piece that was worked on and off when I was in college for my video game design degree. You may have seen it reposted or retweeted on the official Instagram/twitter accounts!!
I really wanted to put my concept artist and character designer skills to work! I'm going to put the creative process underneath the read more, if that's of any interest.
Palmer is one of few characters that actually has a decent description to go off of: canonically he has white hair, "crazy eyes," and he's described as "a real alpha type," which to me SCREAMS lycanthrope !! (The difference between that and werewolf is the ability to go between forms at will vs relying on a full moon.)
I did toy with the idea of a more standard green/beige military uniform, but thought the darker colors would be more fitting in the context of the show. Not do I imagine the lighting underground is the best, so it does have a bit of a stealth element to it.
I also imagine Palmer's squadron to be the K9 equivalent to the collective. (Except they're the canines,) This I made the logo to reflect that using the same maze graphic the show uses (which is on vecteezy!) I did some minor adjustments so the wolf head would be nicely composited on it. The logo was done seperate in illustrator! The rest was done in paint tool Sai with some small additional detailing brushes in clip studio paint.
The camo I did all myself by hand and I will never be doing that again !! I have since made a repeating pattern for myself to use in future artworks of him (which there has been many, I just need to finish and upload them all.)
His name graphic was made by reverse engineering the font on the official logo, since idk what font they use. L from the E, M from the N and the R is actually a combination of the P and the official R, because on the logo there is a plane overlapping the letters. I plan to do a similar thing for both Sarah and Noah and will likely reverse engineer the entire alphabet as a font for my own fanworks.
