Weekend Writing Challenge
DRABBLE CHALLENGE #2
April 25, '19
If you're still not quite sure why we're encouraged to use ACTIVE VOICE in our work, this little challenge might help!
For this weekend's Drabble Challenge, we're doing something different.
If you're already all over the passive/active thing, this challenge is a good way for you to play with voice development and style.
The Guidelines:
Write (or choose) a short passage (150 - 300 words) in your natural voice.
REWRITE that passage in exactly 100 words (no more; no less), attempting to convey the same meaning.
Use the new information about commas, semicolons and ACTIVE voice to help you.
If you need to, use the PROMPT 'Chocolate and Tea Leaves', or write what's in your head!
It doesn't need to be pretty. The idea is to get the important details across as nicely as you can.
This challenge is open to all original writers, and all fandoms so that everyone can join in.
Post your original snippet AND your drabble as a comment so that everyone can benefit from the activity :).
Try to finish by 11.59pm Sunday in YOUR timezone. Late? No worries--post anyway!
Reblog and tag your friends so that everyone can join in!
Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
This will be the final Weekend Drabble Challenge. As of next week, the Drabble Challenge will move to during the week to make room for other interesting little weekend challenges. I'm pretty excited!
See tomorrow's post for a list of reasons to use Passive Voice 😉.
