So I got the sentence "La komencanto estas krokodilo" on Esperanto Duolingo, which translates to "The beginning is a crocodile". Now this may seem like just another one of Duolingo's weird sentences, but there's actually culture behind it. In Esperanto, the verb "krokodili" means "to speak in the wrong language for the occasion". So if you do this, you're a krokodilo/krokodilino. A lot of beginners will do this, especially at JES or other conferences. At JES, you need to speak Esperanto, and avoid speaking your native tongue. It's very frowned upon, cause it's rare if its someone's native language there. Everyone wants to practice, and you can improve. So don't be a krokodilo. Ĉu mi krokodilo por skribante ĉi tion en anglo? Ĉu anglo aŭ anglan? AAAAAAAAAAAA Mi estas malbona ĉe esperanton.
