The more they are hidden and mysterious, the more waterfalls attract me. I recently found this beauty near Sant'Andrea Apostolo sullo Ionio in Italy and I never understood who build it or why it was build. There is a ruind beside it, what may mean that it was once some kind of mill. But as much as the water is clear and I already may have jumped in a dozen times, waterfall pools scare the hell out of me and I really don't know why. This church built in 1686 sits on thehill in front of the eastern gate of Badolato. A point where on a clear day you can look from Capo Colonna to Ponta Stilo, the entire Gulf of Squillace on the Ionian Coast of Italy. I often come up here to think and write. Tonight there was a partial moon eclipse on a red moon when seen from the south of Italy. The mor time I spend in this southern region of #italy , the more I understand about civilization and it's develomente throughout history. This has been a very desired piece of land in the center of the mediterranean sea for centuries and every invader, every conquerer left it's own mark. In this area of #calabria the #greek influence never fully vanished and some villages still preserve the a grecanian language. There is so much to tell around here that I sometimes get overwhelmed. 📷 by @mariso81 In a group of 47 pilgrims of all ages and backgrounds we walked 49km in three days from San Marco Argentano to the Sanctuary of San Francesco of Paola in #calabria . This is the first route called "The young man's path" as it refers to the early ages of San Francesco's life. I am not a religious person but I do value spirituality and culture.
