the nurse was waiting for the elevator to head back down from pediatric floor to the emergency room. the elevator opened and there was, will. her face lit up in a smile as the ginger doctor stood there looking down. ❛ fancy meeting you here, doctor halstead. ❜ she greeted, flirtatiously as she joined him, taking the opportunity to stand right next to him. she could see that the first floor was selected, so she didn't need to press it.

call it a hunch. call it paranoia. call it the caution clarice has had since she was a little girl, the thing that kept her alert and alive throughout her time in the fbi. from the moment she laid eyes on the psychiatrist, she had distrusted him. felt something off about him. there was nothing concrete that she could prove, no persuading anyone around his charismatic nature, but clarice was put off by his near perfection, the emotions that never quite reached his eyes. even jack seemed to be charmed by hannibal, but clarice wouldn't allow herself to fall into it as everyone else seemed to. 'you aren't th'first man t'call me demanding, doctor lecter, but if you call me little or thing again, i'll have you quarantined from this case faster than you can say my correct title,' clarice, with shoulders back and chin raised, looks into hannibal's eyes with no fear of consequence or confrontation. when john drew hannah asher's name for secret santa, he was honestly at a loss for what to get her. he hasn't had the privilege of knowing her ⸻ and the rest of the ED staff for long. but he still wanted to get the best gift he could. once he set aside the money, first making sure it was financially possible as the budget was about forty dollars. while he knew it wasn't a lot for most doctors, he was still a broke medical resident; and the only way he could justify it was that he didn't have a family to buy for. so he decided to do his best. 

he went to a store to see what he could get for her, deciding to get her a heated blanket, while it was on sale. then, various other items such as her favorite type of vitners potato chips, and other relaxation items such as shower steamers,  and a pair of cute holiday socks that look like doughnuts. the staff was supposed to exchange the day of the holiday party, so after putting the items in a larger gift bag, he headed to Gaffney for his shift like normal. 

a few hours passed by as the morning was a little chaotic after a car accident involving two families got rolled in, but when things started to calm down he decided to give hannah his gift for her. approaching the ob/gyn, he smiled and held up the gift bag. ❛ merry christmas, hannah. I was your secret santa. I uh ⸻ hope you like everything. ❜ honestly he was just proud he didn't ask for any help.
