Discovered the cute profeta coffee shop with the red brick Buiding. Love the vibe here & they have coffee from espresso Vivace

Espresso in Seattle
I was reading a newspaper article in the Seattle Weekly about coffee culture in this town. It claimed that since Seattle was the city that led the first wave of coffee culture in the '90s, the innovation stalled out, and Seattle was eclipsed by the upstarts in Brooklyn, San Francisco and Portland (ex: Stumptown, Blue Bottle, etc.)
I see their point, and I am making sure to check out the "new guard" coffee shops in town (Milsted in Fremont was good, Slate in Ballard is next on my list). But I have to throw a hand up and note that Espresso Vivace has been making exceptional coffee here for 25 years now. The first time I visited Seattle, oh 10 or 11 years ago, I had my first truly awesome coffee experience at Vivace. I had never had such a sweet and perfect double ristretto espresso shot in my life. I wondered if my experience would be the same this time around, or if I would think it was less magical after having tasted espresso at every fine coffee shop across this country, from Maine to Los Angeles.
But Vivace is still that good. It's up there with my best ever. Top 3, along with Tandem in Portland, ME and Intelligentsia in Los Angeles. And that's my official response to Seattle Weekly.
