Lucifer is one of the last ‘five colors’ - the most powerful of all their kind, and the ones who are able to change reality on on a whim - and the only one to actively participate in the caretaking of their people.  What became of the others?

Here Esquiline contemplates ‘the mass’ the roiling bodies of Lucifer’s equals, who have willed themselves into a strange and distanced non-activity.  They are isolated above the world, unwilling to engage with it, thinking themselves beyond the conflicts that affect their own kind from the other-worldly entities that damaged and nearly killed Esquiline, Parnassus, Lucifer, and others.

The station for Friday of the Fourth Week of Lent is Sant'Eusebio. The church stands upon house of Saint Eusebius of Rome, where he was condemned to death by starvation by Constans for defending Saint Athanasius against the Arians. The proximity of the church to the Esquiline cemetery probably influenced the choice of Gospel in the traditional liturgy today: the raising of Lazarus.
