hi! i hope you're doing well :) just saw the post about the d20 essayzine and it looks really cool, but i had a few questions. what sorts of essay topics would you be looking for? would it be alright to focus on one season, or would you prefer theses that look over multiple seasons?
and on a somewhat separate note, how much academic writing experience would you be looking for, from contributors? i haven't written academically in a while (since college), but i do a different form of writing for work. would all of that count as having experience?
thank you so much!! it looks like a very cool idea, so whether i'm writing for it or just reading it, i'm looking forward to seeing the zine in its realized form!
heya hi! essay topics aren't in the application part of the process and coming up w them will happen in the server/with the other writers to make sure everyone is on the same page tonally, but most of the concepts i pictured are either analysis of or reactions to specific attributes of one season (i.e. a genre exploration for any one season). i'm not super tied down to the concept of one kind of paper, though! the most important part is that writers will be asked to engage w dimension 20 as a piece of media rather than from a fandom lens.
i'm not looking for academic writing experience specifically at all, just a willingness to use it and, again, tonally match the other essays in the eventual collection. any form of technical/non-creative writing is a definite bonus, though! i'm excited to see your application if you decide to give it a shot :)
