Btw, you're literally not allowed to ever beat yourself up even a bit for not looking like models or actors on tv or whatever. In general but ESPECIALLY if you're a teenager.

You might think this post is about to be about photoshop and AI and deceptive video editing, and while it is also about these things, it's mostly about telling you this:

Rich people dermatologists in Los Angeles have drop-in hours.

And by "drop-in hours," I mean that you (or your assistant) can call at any time they're open and say "hey, I'm getting a pretty bad zit right now, can I come in today or tomorrow and get in injected?"

And then one of the scheduling people will say "Sure, we have some time this afternoon. When do you want to come in?"

And then you tell them what time you want to come in, you head to their office and/or clinic at the preselected time, you see a dermatological nurse practitioner or whichever one of the dermatologists happened to have five minutes free in their schedule.

And then whoever it is gives you a quick little corticosteroid injection into the cyst/zit/whatever to suppress inflammation, massively speed up healing, and prevent most or all scarring.

And it doesn't have to be just one, either. Breaking out? Or prone to cystic acne? They'll do five, six at a time. Easy. A breakout that would've taken months to resolve is basically gone in less than a week.

And inflammation and pain are typically visibly, often massively reduced within hours.

And the whole office visit takes less than 20 minutes. The office is very pretty, by the way. There are orchids. Everything is sparklingly clean. And then walk out the door and you're back on the road to get coffee before you head to the set.

And because you're rich, and/or because some of the Hollywood and media labor unions have very good medical insurance, it's covered by insurance, and you may or may not even have a copay.

So. You are never, ever, ever allowed to feel bad about your appearance in comparison to an actor or a model, because they are operating on a skincare/dermatology level you probably didn't know existed.

Also, by the way. Whenever you deal with shitty medical care or wait times. You should remember shit like this and let it radicalize you. Do you know how much of your health care could be like that if they didn't save things like "quick responses/appointments" and "good insurance plans" and "sparkling clean, pleasant offices" and "having access to fucking medical care, half the time" for rich people.

And that's rich people medical care for a bad zit, by the way.

Now think about all of this but for lifesaving treatments, long-term medical care, diagnostic tests, referrals, wait times, quality of care, and imaging/exams. And. Yeah.
