It had been stupid, rewinding like that when she was already exhausted. But someone was in trouble, and it killed Leila to stand there and watch when she knew there was something she could do to help. Still, the aftermath had been screaming in pain from the splitting headache she’d been left with, and people on the sidewalk had stared at her, like she was a complete lunatic. Everyone but Charlotte, whose hand she’d felt first, just barely, the slightest of touches that barely even eased her pain. Next thing she knew her friend’s lips were on hers, and she didn’t remember kissing back -- just the pain washing away, her headache subsiding until she could see straight again and her brain didn’t feel like it wanted to explode. It took her a second to realize what was happening, and when she did, Leila jumped back, looking panicked. “No, no, no -- Charlotte, you shouldn’t have done that, I can handle the headaches, really, I promise, I’m... Charlotte? Are you okay?” Leila asked, giving the girl her space, not wanting any physical contact that could pass her any more pain she didn’t deserve to feel.
