As part of on-going efforts to participate with research institutions on the ever widening platform of ‘designing without constraints,’ Imaginarium partnered with the Economic Times Design Summit 2015, held in Mumbai on the 29th of May. The summit saw eminent speakers with diverse backgrounds talk about how design is helpful in building a better tomorrow, and is fueling connections between future scenarios and corporate decision making.
Design and creativity are reflections of a dynamic society, that perceives the value of imagination and radical thinking. The event was a fruitful combination of ideas and opinion from design experts keen to share their experiences and insights on the same.
Navroze Godrej, Executive Director- Strategy and Innovation, Godrej and Boyce, and Michael Foley, Founder- Foley Designs, talked about the significance of speed in the design sector today, which is also one of the greatest attributes of 3D printing. Kapil Hemtamsaria, CEO, VelvetCase, spoke about 3D printing in the context of giving an international edge to Indian brands.
With 3D printing gaining popularity globally, designing is going to be powered by creativity, and without any constraints. “Design for Manufacture used to have its own grammar. Thanks to the advancing technology, 3D printing has made this grammar irrelevant,” believes Guruprasad Rao, Director of Technology & Operations at Imaginarium India, one of the panelists for discussion on Design 2020: Creating Designs for the future.
Summing up, not only did the event allow a giant leap on the importance of 3D printing and designing without constraints, but also showcased Indian knowledge based development activities.
