4. “I swear it was an accident.”
“And how, exactly, does someone ‘accidentally’ break the thing most precious to me?”
“I was tryin’ to play it and it broke.”
Darcy tried to breathe through the red haze that filtered into her vision. There is his big stupid metal hand was her precious baby, her iPod. The same one that had taken years to get back from SHIELD. The one she had only gotten back when she moved to the tower and befriended Strike Team Delta. They had gone back through old SHIELD storage and found it. Stark’s credit card let her fill it to capacity. They had been reunited for such a short time.
Now her baby was gone.
Forever.
There was no coming back from being snapped in half.
“My precious! You murdered my precious!”
“Doll, we can get you a new one-”
“A new one? How can you replace someone’s baby? We’d been through so much together. I owed Barton six cakes for digging her out of SHIELD for me. No one can replace her!”
“I’ll make you a better one!” But Darcy wasn’t listening, she just took her broken iPod and walked out of the room.

“Sir, Sergeant Barnes is requesting entrance into your lab.”
Tony stopped soldering his Iron Man gauntlet. “Send him in.”
Barnes came walking in to Tony’s lab, frantic, face pale, eyes wide. “I need your help.”
Tony smirked, and leaned back against his work station. “Finally giving me permission to look at that chunk of Hydra crap they forced onto your body?”
Bucky seemed to either not really hear or not really care when he responded, “I’ll do anything if you help me.”

Three days after sulking in her room, Darcy emerged to find a small box in red and gold wrapping paper.
She picked it up and shut her door. When she opened it she realized it was a modified mp3 player. It wasn’t quite an iPod and yet it wasn’t a Starkplayer. It was shiny silver color with a red star on it. Inside was a note that made Darcy think she might’ve been too hard on the geriatric supersoldier.
Sorry I broke your baby, and while I know this won’t replace it, maybe you can start a new chapter with this one. All your music is on here, and there’s room for more.
