It made me want to go in and play the game proper, so that’ what i’ve been doing and oh boy, I just have a lot of uhhhhh not fully formed thoughts which are fun.  (Spoilers for Portal 2) 

I imagine wheatly!benji to be very much like Benji from Ghost Protocol or even Mi 3, and that combining that with the portal fanon that Wheatly was once human, the benji was once a human turned into this andriod. He may have a lot of his memory blocked from his human life.  What would be really funny if Kittridge took the place of Cave Johnson. I don’t have anything to add to that, i just thought it would be funny.  Ethan has a soft spot for Benji, finding him endearing and get’s his heart stomped on when he’s betrayed.  Stealing this from @demigoat 

Ethan fell in love with Benji even though he turned evil and power hungry. He doesn't know it yet, but Benji also wouldn't have followed through with The Part Where He Kills You. Benji also doesn't know that and he feels really bad about it way later. 

For now Ethan tries not to think about how he was about to die right there. During the final fight it pains Ethan more than he thinks it should to take Benji out, but he does it. When GLaDOS  is reinstated, Benji is lying beaten, broken and confused (from the corrupted cores) in a pile of rubble. GLaDOS is about to end him, but Ethan convinces her to let him take him when he gets to leave (in place of the companion cube from the og story). 

Benji is both surprised and confused, but goes along. The alternative is GLaDOS' lack of mercy. They're both quiet on the very long elevator ride, but outside Benji spends a long time apologizing. He feels more guilt than an android should be capable of. 

Ethan regularly has flashbacks to the events underground, but he reminds himself that he's never going back and that out here Benji's only the friendly robot he first met in that very dirty looking room he woke up in (he's still both hot and a little scary when he's angry though)
