The perks of having a father who owned an Italian restaurant meant two things, that the room usually always smelled good and there was never a time where good food wasn’t around (exception to that experimental phase Mackenzie went through. But they don’t talk about that).
Inviting Ethan was always fun, he was the kindest of Natalia’s friends and the boys loved him the instant they found out he played football. It was always a rarity for someone to have such a good impression on her relatives, especially her father, and yet Ethan somehow managed to do so.
Admittedly as much as she liked studying in the restaurant for her own personal reasons, she also loved bringing Ethan home. The way her family’s faces lit up when he walked in made Natalia sure they were all gold-card holders of the Ethan Throup fan club. That evening though, the two of them really did have to go somewhere spacious and busy to work on their psychology project - and Cipriano’s was the perfect spot for that.
Distracted by people watching for the last few hours, Natalia was surprised when a large plate of tiramisu dropped down in front of both her and Ethan. She looked up to see Mackenzie up there, a large smile to his face as he rubbed both their backs. “Thought my two favorite people should take a break.” He laughed, and Natalia rolled her eyes looking back at Ethan as she waited for Mackenzie to leave.
“Seems like you’ve made quite an impression on the Cipriano boys.” She giggled. She offered him a fork, taking the first bite. “Seriously though, I don’t think I’ve seen them that happy in awhile. We really do love having you around.” She grabbed his shoulder giving it a light squeeze, instinctively dabbing her finger into the frosting to take a lick. She stopped for a moment though, right before it reached her lips and quickly dabbed the frosting onto Ethan’s nose. “Sappiness over, let’s get back to work.”
