truth!!! this is how i feel with moonlight and la la land (idk if you've seen them but) i loved both and i'm /worried/ that la la land is gonna win everything instead of moonlight dfjsalsdjfjdk
Same about Moonlight but I’m actually against La La Land partly because it looks like it’s going to win everything and partly because it was heavily inspired by one of my favorite movies, The Young Girls of Rochefort. It’s this little well known French musical (which turns 50 this year) and I love this movie and nobody is going to care about it because it’s old and foreign and I just hate how a new movie is getting all this attention while one of my favorites is ignored! And it doesn’t feel fair to the wonderful black movies that really make us look at the Civil Rights movement in a different way; makes us look at the personal lives of people affected by racism. It’s exactly what happened with Selma! I was so excited for it but it got ignored by all the awards and I just felt upset! Especially because it was directed by a woman. I just feel like movies should be more diverse and should be awarded for doing so. Hopefully the BAFTAs will be the start of a step in the right direction!

You absolutely need to see it! I really liked how it focused on the personal life of the couple instead of really on the whole case. And I liked how it didn’t have too much dialogue. Instead the actors acted without so many words and you could really feel the emotions instead of just hear how they feel. That’s what really makes the movie great! It focuses on the emotional aspect of the relationship.
