Get it (but hurry, 1 copy in stock!)
I actually got to see this guy play when I was in Addis earlier this year and damn dude he puts on a show. He does a weekly gig, every Wednesday at this hotel in the Piazza district which was super close to where I stayed. It was jaw dropping. It was like the sound of an elemental force, if said force chose to take the form of a band that you might have heard on the Love Boat. Dude's voice is so versatile, and was even more so, forty-five years ago when he laid down these sides, and the character of his bands, loose, funky, unpredictable, dangerous, unchanged to this day, is a counterpoint to the tightly controlled, almost (dare I say it?) uptight productions by the Ibex Band who backed Mahmoud Ahmed, the other giant of golden age Ethio soul.
