Shan ren band Drink song 山人乐队 酒歌 (by 10poleR) Shanren, from Kunming, China. The name translates to Mountain Men. This is one of the band's more famous tunes, Drinking Song. It's a good example of their ethnic sound, but I have also seen a clip them playing heavy metal! (the video sound was too distorted, otherwise I would post it.) I believe the band now have 2 albums, the self-titled debut from 2009, and a new one (to be) released 2012. Drinking Song (translation): Hey brother, bottom up Hey sister, bottom up No matter if you like it or not, you have to drink You don't like it, you still have to drink No matter if you like it or not, you have to drink Lots of photos and songs to be found on their Shanren facebook. And check out this NY Times article about Shanren and other ethnic music bands in China. The Times piece includes a performance clip from Mongolian rock band Hanggai, and an interview with band member IIchi.
