BIOGRAPHY

Etienne Bernardot has been tied with digital art since 1998, taking part in projects housed by CICV Pierre Schaeffer and the Studio National du Fresnoy. He then heads to the stage and live video performance, performing in concerts and fes- tivals. In parallel, he collaborates with other artists in creating video installations, working in select venues, such as ZKM in Karlsruhe.

In 2003, he co-creates the KSKF company and starts honing his live image creation technique for performance art. He also creates lighting designs for several shows.

Since 2009, Etienne Bernardot has been creating his own image creation interfac- es. This allows him to work in direct interaction with music and lighting. His visual creations also incorporate motion capture. That way, he can interact in real time with the human body, gesture and movement. Beyond this highly technological means of creation, his constant focus is to make the technical disappear behind the sentient character of the work. His exploration is centred on the possible relationships between the digital medium on the one hand, the human body and reality on the other hand.

BIOGRAPHIE

Etienne Bernardot côtoie les arts numériques dès 1998, il participe à des projets au sein du CICV Pierre Schaeffer et du Studio National du Fresnoy. Il s’oriente en- suite vers la scène et la performance vidéo en direct, jouant lors de concerts et de festivals. En parallèle, il collabore avec d’autres artistes sur la création d’installation vidéo, travaillant dans des lieux privilégiés comme le ZKM à Karlsrue.

En 2003, il co-fonde la compagnie KSKF, dès lors il expérimente sa technique de création d’images en direct pour le spectacle vivant. Il fait également des créations lumières pour plusieurs spectacles.

À partir de 2009, Etienne Bernardot crée ses propres interfaces de création d’images. Cela lui permet de travailler en interaction direct avec la musique et la lumière. Il intègre également des systèmes de captation de mouvement à sa créa- tion visuelle. Ainsi, il peut être en interaction en temps réel avec le corps, le geste, le mouvement. Au delà du moyen de création très technologique, il a comme souci constant de faire disparaître cette technique au profit de l’aspect sensible de l’oeuvre. Il explore les relations possibles entre le numérique et le corps, le réel.
