“Alex Katz brings light and movement to Midtown” – Time Out New York.
From “Metropolitan Faces” (2018), the laminated glass artwork at the 57th Street (F) station, to “Park Avenue Departure”, his newest installation of porcelain enamel and steel figurative cutouts lining Park Avenue between 52nd and 60th Streets, Katz depicts New York characters of all kinds, but always returns with images of his wife of 61 years, Ada. When asked in a recent interview with Time Out New York why she appears in his work so frequently, Katz answered, “She’s the perfect model, great looking with a lot of style. She’s also malleable. She can do anything — anything at all.”
