When she wakes up, she finds that there is a heavier weight than normal around her waist. Something solid is pressing against her back and she carefully turns onto her back to find out what it is. She’s surprised to see a body there. Not just any body, either. Cameron is curled up behind her, his arm wrapped around her waist. She decides to take the opportunity to watch him sleep for a little while. She shifts her body so that she can face him. She can feel his fingers curl against her waist and it makes her grin. She turns her head to bury it into her pillow to muffle the sound of her giggling.
He’s cute. She turns her head to look at him, bottom lip hidden behind a row of her teeth. His hair is a little messy and she finds it endearing. It’s tempting to slide her fingers through it but she doesn’t want to risk waking him. She curls closer against him, her head pressing against his chest. She can hear his heartbeat, steady and strong beneath his ribcage. The rhythm is soothing and she’s pretty sure she could fall asleep again.
But then he’s shifting and stretching and rolling away from her. Her perfect little bubble had burst and she grapples easily with her disappointment. She murmurs a soft ‘good morning’ as she slips out of bed. She wants to climb back into the bed and wrap herself in his arms again. Instead, she keeps her distance. It’s easier that way.
