Lobbying in Europe, or anywhere else for that matter, is something that has been around for many years. However, when it comes to EU lobbying, competition has never been stronger. It is estimated that there are over 30,000 lobbyists operating within Brussels alone. A staggering figure that is only expected to continue to rise. So how do you successfully lobby in the EU? 2. Build relationships whenever and wherever you can
This doesn't just mean making acquaintances, if you feel that you have met someone who would be beneficial to your client, then spend the time to really get to know them.

Whatever it is that you are lobbying for, or for whatever company, or politician, it is extremely important that you are an expert in your field. You need to be prepared to handle questions that may be asked of you or hold conversations with contacts who may be useful in the near future.
4. Use your contacts to their full potential
As it is often said, European lobbying is more about who you know then what you know. This is true to a certain extent, whilst it is vitally important that you know your own field inside out, it is also important that you have a good list of contacts that you can call upon when you need them.

Know exactly what it is that your are lobbying for and the position that you take. Ensure you are prepared and ready to handle any question that may be thrown at you.
