Getting close to your 1st Birthday

Euan you've come a long way over the last couple of months, you continue to surprise us every day and make us both laugh and marvel at the fact that you don't fall over more often.  

Current Name: Danger

Likes: Kissing, Climbing things, pretend-walking (you can't walk yet but sometimes you think you can and you just let go and go for it, usually ends in pain), peeekaboo, music, dancing (body popping), singing

Dislikes: getting nappy changed, having water in the bath (you like to pull the plug out)

Tricks: Kissing, Peekaboo, flirting, waving at people, NEW : clapping 

Favourite Food: Strawberries, orange, smoothies, mom's milk, fish pie from Fallon & Byrne and the one Granny made.

Mum's planning your birthday party...dad cant wait get home and we love you so much Euan x x

9 Months

I can't believe it, tomorrow is your 9 month birthday!! It's also your Auntie Claire's birthday too so it's a special day.  You've really grown a lot over the last month, teeth are now a permanent fixture on your constant smile, oh and when you're not smiling, you're pulling this new kind of determined scrunched up face that me and mummy love.  But, it kinda looks a bit scary so we're going to work on that.

You're really eating a lot of solid food now, your favourite food seems to be tomatoes but the last couple of days you've been scoffing anything we make (pasta, salmon, roasted veg, fajitas..).  A couple of weeks ago we went to Wagamama's which was a real milestone: you managed to flirt with 3-4 women and eat Chicken Ramen, soup and all. What a proud moment for us :-)

We had a busy month travelling, you and mum went to Sheffield to visit your Nana and great Grandparents - where I believe you ate Real Yorkshire Pudding; then you came down to London where i was working for a few days.  We returned to London the following week for another couple of days and had lots of fun, taking in Wagamamas, Selfridges food hall, Big Ben, South Bank, and pub in Whitehall, oh and meeting your Uncle John W for burgers!

Your movement has progressed from 'slowing dragging your body' to 'propelling your body along the floor at high speed', which is clearly keeping us on our toes but is a lot of fun. 

Happy 9 Months tomorrow Euan, sorry I can't be with you but I'll be home soon.

Day6: forgedaboutit

Euan, this diary day is for you...today you woke us up around 7am with the biggest cheeky smile ever. We set out with you chilling in the ergo. We ate brekkie from Prêt (moms favourite) sitting outside the NY Public Library. I sang the ghostbusters theme tune (bustin makes me feel good) whilst you looked for people to flirt with. The park warden came over and said you were gorgeous. You knew it. And this was only the beginning. We went up Empire State Building, pretty much every member of staff wanted to either eat your toes or tickle your belly, some tourists also spent more time looking at you than the $25 view. Those that ignored you soon came around as you shouted on them for attention. After your feed and snooze in Madison park, we moved on to Chelsea market via the high line. I'm skipping details but lets just say a lady asked you on a play date, a NYPD cop said you were the cutest thing ever, and a glammed up granny finally stole you away from us for a cuddle. All the time you smiled, drooled and made bababa noises. Chelsea market was amazing, mum had a frozen chai latte (with brain freeze) and I simply perved at the lobster and fresh fish. It was super hot today 32C so we sprayed you with water a lot to cool you down, your reaction was hilarious. Jumped in cabs to avoid the sun, you played with the door lock. We had a great day but we need to talk about this flirting. You need to be more discreet, and maybe don't flirt with cops. Love you m&d x

Day 5: In a New York minute

Late brekkie in Gregory's coffee then took the bus from Madison up town to 83rd st. ($2.25 pp coins only, friendly drivers and easy with babies...much better than cabs or subway). Euan flirted with several ladies on the bus. Spent the afternoon in the amazing Metropolitan museum of art...waw...what a place. I'm not in to museums or art or metropolitans...but this place is special, something for everyone. They have a suggested entrance fee but it is well worth the full donation. They really put a lot of effort in to the setting for each segment, it makes you feel like you're in Vienna, ancient Egypt or wherever! Really classy with super friendly staff. Euan flirted with pretty much everyone in sight. If you have kids use the ground floor entrance...more space for feeding and stretching out. Another walk back thru central park taking in Alice in Wonderland and another few crazies. (wellies, shorts, shirt and tie, and a bowler hat). I wish I could wear that shit.

Day 3: Central Perk

Took a walk up 5th Ave, spent some time in FAO Scharwz (downstairs is great for baby stuff and handy feeding/ changing facilities), resisted the Wonka Nerds and bespoke Sesame St. Puppets, maybe next time…

Took a long walk up thru Central Park stopping at the playpark and then a picnic at Wollman Rink and ice cream at the lake. Amazing park with lots to discover.

Long but interesting walk (great people watching) back down thru Madison Ave. Euan attracting a load of attention from the friendly New Yorkers :)
