I keep a few cockroach colonies because I like them, and the 6-spotted or Trinidad bat-cave cockroach Eublaberus distanti is a species I’m particularly fond of. In their natural habitats in South America they’re often found in bat caves where they primarily feed on guano. Here at the OMG Snakes house they’re great for cleaning up unwanted prey items and for taking care of food waste. This method of organic matter disposal is so popular that it even has its own name: Blatticomposting!
