nighttime falls over the city in a slow sunset. jasper doesn’t know how long he’s been on the roof basking in it; but, by the time he finally decides to go inside for a shower, a chill’s started to set in. it’s pleasant, though, not unlike those nights of below 50s temperature back home in baton rogue. he makes a note to himself to come back out when he’s clean and fed; maybe get some woodwork in under the moonlight. but, the thought leaves him when his phone starts to buzz in his pocket right as he reaches his door. he fumbles with it for a second, doing his best to fish it and his keycard out at the same time - but the moment he sees who’s calling, all that superfluous motion ends and jasper goes stock still.
he’d asked for noor’s number that day at the cafe without really thinking about it. the urge had just bloomed out of him at the sight of her back as she turned to walk away, but he doesn’t regret it. they’d gotten the chance to text here and there since and it felt nice to have her close again, but they certainly weren’t this close again. were they? his nerves kick up a bit, but it doesn’t stop him from answering her, a faint smile already growing as he braces for her voice. “’ello?” / @eulohani
