now playing — crushing on you : lucas . . .
Everyone knew how much jaeyun felt for you. I mean he didn’t exactly hide it. Not purposefully at least. It seemed like everyone but you knew how he felt. It was almost embarrassing how head over heels he was for you.
His eyes always found yours no matter where he was. According to Heeseung, it was almost creepy how quickly he was able to find you. Like right now, he's standing in a crowded New Year's house party. Slightly sweated bodies brushing against him as they lazily danced to the mediocre music.
He sighed heavily, his hand gripping onto the red solo cup given to him by Heeseung. “Can't believe I let you drag me here..” he mumbled, swirling the mystery juice around in the cup. Heeseung scoffed, “it was for good reasoning..”
Jake shifted uncomfortably, his eyes occasionally drifting back to you, the good reasoning. You were truly like a magnet. That smile, God he wished everyday he was some sort of comedian. He could listen to you laugh all day.
It was always obvious when he was thinking about you. It’s like his body betrayed him. A small blush covered his face, he tripped over his words, and his hands would start to shake. It's like his natural charm was snatched out of his body when he was with you. He felt more comfortable in silence with you when normally he’d feel the need to fill it. Heeseung said that he acted like a middle schooler around you, he laughed at everything you said even if it wasn’t funny. He'd squeeze between anyone to sit next to you.. Heeseung just couldn’t understand how you didn't notice.
“Jake? I didn’t expect to see you at a party..” your voice snapped him out of his daze of staring at nothing. He looked down at you, smiling quite widely. “Yeah, Heeseung convinced me to come.” his tone was nearing awkwardness as he rubbed his hands against his jeans, trying to get rid of the sweat on them. “I thought so,” you smiled, looking over his shoulder at Heeseung who winked at you. “You wanna.. go out to the balcony?” you gestured to the empty balcony. “The countdown is about to begin.’ you added, returning your gaze back to him, making him shiver.
“Yes.” He answered a bit too quickly, which made you giggle. “Alright, come on then.” you grabbed his hand and dragged him to the balcony. What you didn't know is as he walked behind you, his eyes raked down your body. Zeroing in on those hips, genuinely his favorite part of your body. He caught his lip between his teeth, forcing his eyes away from your body.
As you closed the door to the balcony, it instantly became quieter. It really felt like it was only you and him.
You shivered at the cool air of the leftover winter air. You leaned against the railing, watching the fireworks other people have already set off. “Cold?’ he asked quietly, draping his jacket over your shoulders before you got the chance to reply to him. He put his shaky hands behind his back, leaning his side against the railing and staring down at you.
You looked over at him, “So, any new years revolutions yet?” You filled the silence quite casually, he admired that about you. You were able to do things so gracefully, everything you did was so natural, like you were born to make him nervous. He tapped his finger against his chin, pretending to think deeply. “Hm.. my new year's resolution is to be honest to someone.” He smirked, shifting his body towards the railing. ‘“Oh, so you’re a liar now?” you teased, glancing at his strangely wide smile. “Not for long.” He murmured, chewing on his lips gently.
The more you two talked, the quicker time passed. You realized every word connected you more, the more you looked at him, the way his face scrunched when he laughed, his dimples when he smiled, the way his eyes shined when he talked about music. The way his hands got shaky when you got too close.
“The countdown is about to begin.” You turn towards him, tugging his jacket tighter around yourself. He nodded slowly, taking in your appearance for the hundredth time that night. He ran his tongue over his bottom lip, refusing to break eye contact. Eventually you look away, he’s making you nervous. A quiet giggle escaped your lips, “What? Did I make a joke?’ he asked, that stupid smirk returning back to his face.
Before you got the chance to answer, you heard the countdown begin. Most of the party moved outside, only some joining you two on the balcony.
He felt his hands get sweaty, again. Was he really doing this?
His finger tapped against the railing. He was trying to find some way to calm himself.
He really prayed you couldn’t tell how nervous he was.
His eyes darted over to you, you were smiling.
You looked so happy, slightly jumping up and down as you counted down.
He turned towards you, grabbing your hands and turning you towards him.
His hand cupped the side of your face, “Happy New Years.” He whispered, leaning down and softly kissing your lips. You gasped quietly, but that just wasn’t enough for him. He deepened the kiss, hungrily devouring your lips. His hand traveled down to your hip, pulling you closer to his warm body.
He pulled away reluctantly, staring into your eyes. He smiled, licking his lips. “You taste sweeter than imagined.” He chuckled, his grip on your hips slightly. You turned away slightly, “Don’t flirt with me.” You whispered, your hands eventually ending up on his shoulders. He smiled, “Can’t help it.”
