Eureka Lemon (citrus limon 'eureka’) Lemons are first thought to have been grown in Assam (northern India). A genomic study of the lemon indicated it was a hybrid between bitter orange (sour orange) and citron. This one is grafted on to a common lemon root stock. Which one? I don’t know, there are 14 different varieties! I would not try to propagate a lemon as it’s easier to buy one grafted on to a rootstock that is suitable for the plant and the location. Our lemon is about four metres high, five metres wide and one and a half metres deep since it’s acting as a hedge. The one drawback with a Eureka is the thorns which can easily reach 4cm (one and a half inches!). This tree provides us with lemons for at least ten months of the year. So at $1 each it’s saving us heaps. 😁 #lemon #eurekalemon #flower #citruslimon #tree #mygarden #myplants #homegrown #yellow #green #juice #hedge #longfruiting #thorn #abcmygarden #australiangardens #australiangarden #ausgarden #ausgardens (at Belmont, New South Wales, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeLOhlkvhgM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
