“Bo-ya!” Feather says, “Lavender and Midnight are coming back from the Crystal Empire tomorrow! They got diverted during the evacuation ‘cause that’s where Lav’s dad Spike had to go, and I haven’t seen them since then! They’re gonna be so surprised everything that’s happened!”
Hey, where were Lavender and Midnight when you were in Canterlot? They seem like they would've been helpful for your 'monster finding squad'!
"They would! But they went to the Crystal Empire with 'Uncle Spike' when the evacuation hit, so they didn't come to Canterlot. Lavender's nose would've been a big help!... though I think she might've scared Scales a bit!" Feather says with a wink.
Quartz meets the Heroes
Quartz Horn- still benefiting from the emotion-reading spell- spots the group.
She hesitates, then approaches. Sure, Rainbow Feather might not be into her showing up, but Rainbow Dash, one of the Elements, was right there! Even though Quartz lived in Ponyville, she rarely got a chance to interact with the elements, outside of buying the odd pastry at Sugarcube corner when Pinkie was working there, but even then they never talked, and here was one of the Heroic Six talking about heroism right there! With Luna too!
"Hi!" she greets, "I'm Quartz Horn!" introducing herself to those who may not
Then she gets struck by... warriness? Horn's still not very good with picking things up... lesse, that's Rainbow Feather's emotions! She's a bit uncertain.... is that how she always feels when I approach? Quartz wonders... Dash seems a bit more ambivalent, and Gilda's definitely fixing a carefully appraising gaze on her! Only Luna seemed to have a warm response.
"Hi Quartz... what are you hear for?" Feather asks. Caution. Huh.
"Geeze, Feather, I was just-" whoa, abort, abort! Quartz is suddenly hit by some cold emotions from Gilda, and Dash's seems to be sinking too! Can't mess up! Quartz shakes her head, then starts again, "I mean, we worked so well together helping Scales, and your mom... moms, I guess... are such big heroes, I was... kinda wondering if I could hear from them about their heroic mission too? Straight from the ponies' mouth, and all that?"
With that, she could sense Rainbow Feather relaxing, and so did the others.
"What's this I hear about you two working together to help somepony out?" Dash asks, with a feeling of satisfiaction that Quartz guessed was directed at her daughter.
"Yea, we had a little adventure," Feather said, with a little smile.
The Princess chipped in, "These two were quite the help! I was impressed."
"We'll have to hear all about it," the griffon added. Quartz could really tell that was a feeling of proudness! Though Rainbow Feather didn't seem content to soak in praise-
"I'll tell you all about it later, but first I wanna hear how you saved Equestia!"
Quartz nods and chimes in, "Please missues Rainbows? I've never heard a story straight from the heroes before!"
"Well.... ok! There we were...."
"I'm so glad you're back! You haven't been gone so long since..."
"Since the time she left for Ponyville without telling you and met me?" Dash says with a smirk, then Gilda ruffles Rainy's hair, "I knew you were tough enough to handle it. Well, as long as Gren didn't give you too much trouble! How was she?"
At the moment, Dash is cuddling a sleeping Gren.
"He was ok!" Feather says, "He cried for you sometimes, but I kept him distracted, and Captain Glena helped."
"Glena? Heh, didn't know she had it in her," Dash laughs.
The Invaders' Secret
"Hark, everypony!" Princess Luna's royal voice carries across the castle's rooms, and all ponies eyes turn towards her.
"The danger is defeated! T'was a coalition of n'er-do-wells and villains who thought they could gain power to defeat Equestria by drawing it from Storm Lords across the dimensional boundary- yes, our wards remain intact, but they found that even if they could not enter it was possible to empower others on our side.
"Even now my sister Princess Celestia and the Elements are reinforcing the wards to prevent a re-occurance, a task I shall undertake her myself! We would ask that you wait a day or two for the all clear, then you will be able to return to your homes!"
A cheer goes out and a chant of 'Princess Luna' begins!
Several days pass, things stay calm, but there's a nervousness in the air as whatever danger is still out there.
Then, a figure arrives!
"My adorable apprentice!" Princess Luna says as she comes through the window, and seeing Feather in her room, gives her a hug, "I've returned! The dangers has passed- the Harmony Six are sealing up the problem right now so your mothers shall be a few days in arriving, but I flew ahead to reassure everyone! I see you've done well in our absence!"

Rainbow Feather could hear a tiny snore from Gren. The little guy had no trouble getting to sleep near big-sis.
Feather, on the other wing, was still awake, even in the comfortable bed.
"Sigh.... it's hard to sleep knowing Mom & Mommy are out there fighting..."
