1, 5, 8, 13, 17 and 18 for Aglaya/eva?! You’ve made me like super intrigued about the pairing!!!!
ohohoh i love answering for rarepairs! i get to just make shit up >:)
1- what do you think is the appeal of their dynamic
i can think of a few things! opposites attract is a big one - you could even argue that aglaya is the brooding protagonist and eva is the manic pixie dream girl but yuri - and doomed yuri is another since they're both doomed! i also just feel like it would be really cool to see them interact in general. what is that interrogation like? that kinda thing!
5- what visions or hopes do they have for their relationship
i can see many different flavors of aglaya/eva potentials... perhaps eva is hoping to change aglaya's heart? perhaps she's twitterpated and hoping aglaya will discuss philosophy with her? eva is a very dreamy person and i think she entertains different fantasies. perhaps even the idea of fleeing to the capital with aglaya... she could have an entirely different life with her, and she's excited by the possibilities!
meanwhile aglaya has a very dismal outlook. she knows that eva is doomed. she knows that she, herself, is doomed. so i think, at least for a while, that aglaya is like 'well maybe we can keep each other company when we're both dead. not going to think too much into that right now.'
8- are they naturally compatible or do they make an effort to try and understand the other
oh it takes a lot of effort to understand each other, especially at first. bouncing off that last ask but i think aglaya doesn't have much of an opinion of eva at first. she's important to the plotline, but aglaya expects her to die, as she does in many timelines! hence why she figures, well, maybe when i die i'll have someone to talk to. but she's kind of dreading it because she can't fathom that eva will have anything of interest to say. and eva is frightened of aglaya at first, but still strangely drawn to her... she's occupying eva's beloved cathedral! and in a scenario where eva does indeed die, she is haunting aglaya. and that, i believe, captures aglaya's attention! they bicker at first but then they sort of grow on each other.
13- what is it that they need the most from their partner and do they find it easy to ask for it
eva definitely craves physical touch, but if we're talking ghost eva... well, that's difficult for her to obtain! i think in general she doesn't tend to 'ask' for what she wants/needs so much as she tries to flirtatiously suggest it. if she knew she had to ask for it, she might give it a shot, but it's in her nature to tease.
aglaya, to me, has difficulties with reciprocation. she's dignified, an inquisitor, and experience such vulnerable emotions frightens her. so eva teasing her actually flusters her a bit. it's a scenario in which eva would have the upper hand.
17- what made them choose each other and what was the decisive factor
eva likes a challenge. i don't think she'd be all that interested if aglaya was more open emotionally. eva needs someone with layers to break down (see: yulia, andrey, daniil...) and aglaya is sort of The Biggest Challenge Of Them All. and for aglaya i think her decision is based on curiosity. eva is persistent, and she might as well see how this plays out. with a bit of her being a bit stupid about pretty blondes.
18- how do they disturb or challenge each other
eva challenges aglaya to confront the things she's really afraid of: vulnerability, defeat, and death. and aglaya challenges eva philosophically, as i'm sure they argue a bit about utopianism and the nature of miracles.
