If I may, @daheroweek?
Asena Lavellan.
Empathetic. Kind. Engaged listener. Calculating. Rational. And lest we forget: Inquisitive. Heh.
Formerly at your service. Will now, in all likelihood, tell you to kick rocks.
She's sick of Thedas.
Who was she before the Inquisition? A Dalish elf on the fringes of her own society.
The clan didn't take too kindly to what they considered her heretical nature. She asked too many questions, pointed out too many inconsistencies in their "histories", and pursued answers with a doggedness they kept trying to stifle.
She wasn't sent to the Conclave because she was a favorite.
It was a very calculated, two-birds-with-one-stone sort of decision. The Keeper saw an opportunity to get rid of a problem while perhaps learning something useful in the process. After all, Asena's questions may have been a constant thorn in the clan's side, but her habit of questioning everything also made her particularly well suited to observing the Shems and whatever they were planning.
Because despite Asena's highly critical view of how stubbornly her clan dug in its heels, they at least had enough sense to recognize that when Shems gathered in great numbers, it often led to war. Which, naturally, made the person they'd just sent away rather useful once things went sideways.
Imagine her absolute delight when their plea for help landed in her lap at Skyhold.
Did she save them?
Of course. That's just the kind of woman she is.
Did she ever see them again?
Absolutely not.
There's no love lost there. Asena has no particular desire to return to the clan, nor any interest in pretending that their treatment of her didn't leave its mark. But she won't begrudge them proudly claiming her now. If telling the rest of Thedas that the Inquisitor is one of theirs helps remind people that the Dalish are more than the caricature so many have made of them, then so be it.
She doesn't need their approval.
She doesn't need an apology.
Grace, thy name be Asena.
