I get pop music. It totally has its place. the beatles were pop and who doesn't love the beatles? (I think my dad didn't actually) but there is a reason why every katy perry song sounds the same. and why some ke$ha songs sound like katy perry. popular music has become very formulaic and that can be comforting. but then I'll hear something like this song and I realize why I love and value invention a bit more over just a nice hummable tune. not that this is reinventing the wheel but it's a really cool strange song.
