Testing a few ideas for the flames, I know which style is going to work out the best. But now to get the correct color. Cherry usually works, but it's too dark when it's not diluted. More Oka-MAY (haha) progress. I worked on this a bit last night, pleats are the devil, but I should be done with them now. 3 layers of hakuma type skirts and moving on to the regular skirt and top 2 layers of under kimono. Yes everything is layered, I know I could cheat and just make it look like layers, but I feel that wouldn't be true to the character. More pictures later... Not much progress today as I unpacked and unwrinkled what I had already done before. I started on the skirts first, patterning out the base layers of white, yellow and mint green. The white has already been pleated in the front and back, just need to do the same to the yellow and mint. The base white also already has an edging of box pleats to make the ruffles. I did make the belts for the bottom 3 layers, folding and ironing them like really wide double fold bias tape. Can't wait to keep going, but for tonight...
