Can you analyze Kai’s free time events and maybe his character traits a bit? I feel like a lot of people gloss over the fact that he has a high emotional intelligence and write him off as ‘stupid’ just because he isn’t like Damon or Eva., which feels super wrong. Also, he is honestly really good at keeping himself safe, opting to stay in places where others probably wouldn’t attack him and staying with people who he knows wouldn’t kill him (it’d be too obvious for Damon to kill him since people know they’re roommates.) I honestly can’t find much Kai analysis outside of him being Damon’s support, and while I love that theory, it’s a shame there isn’t more Kai-centric things.

Hi Anon! This is such a funny ask to me, I love that I'm getting sent on Kai's scent like an attack dog now. I absolutely am planning on digging further into Kai's character (and every else's for that matter), but the issue is always finding the time. Still, I thought I'd take a minute to address some of your other statements.

Kai IS very good at keeping himself safe! Despite consistently whining, crying, and pouting, he somehow hasn't isolated himself from the group. The first time he engages with Damon, an outcast, is when he's forced to via the roommate arrangement. Even then he's begging the others not to leave him with Damon, and let's not forget they use Kai's room at Kai's insistence so he will "feel more in control". Damon rationalizes it by thinking Kai would still follow him if he left for his own room because of how sad Kai looks, but frankly it is impressive that Kai got everything he wanted out of the less-than-ideal situation. It's only after this that Kai starts endearing himself to Damon along with the group. It seems Kai is strategic in who he befriends.

Something interesting about Project: Eden's Garden is that the prologue acted to showcase who the "smartest" people were by the most classic definition of smart. Wolfgang, who took charge of the group and was outspoken about solving the trial case, and went to law school. He was also our first proper murder victim, along the murderer Eva, the ultimate mathlete, another classical example of intelligence. That being said, it shows that book smarts is not enough to succeed in the games. There is a need for emotional intelligence as well (the reason Wolfgang went into the basement, Eva's exact undoing in her trial, and the emphasis on logos).

Now that this is established, I think there's going to be an emphasis switch to pathos, or focusing on more emotionally intelligent characters, because there are SEVERAL who are smart enough to have kept their own intelligence under wraps, such as Mark or Wenona. Kai, while perhaps not the most intelligent of the group, I think falls into this category by some extent since he does participate during trials (and I don't remember him crying during the second trial but I'd have to check) and he is good at spotting details, but not solving them.

Kai is the one who questions the easy access to opioids even if its because he worries "someone will want to get high" rather than drugging someone, like what happened with Wolfgang. He also shares his blackmail immediately with Damon, and shares they both received blackmail with the group. Also, he's one of the few characters Ingrid approves of to join laundry duty, being called "clean-looking" and knowing how to use the machines.

I think Kai is a lot more capable than people give him credit for! I don't believe he's a secret genius or some master manipulator, but none of the characters are, and I do think his ability to read data and patterns, and how he managed to get along with both Damon and the group is definitely worth noting!

Mine became mine bc it was thrown into my possession pre-estate sale and I had no idea if it was a good one or not (its a good one though, but to be fair there arent many bad ones). So just yeah. ok so the first thing I will say is that he’s much better-looking in the manga style. at least in my opinion. but I’ll let the art speak for itself

he’s tall, blond, witty, pretty perceptive, super caring in his own way (which is being kind of a dick sometimes), he’s got sick tattoos, an undercut, and has a habit of adopting stray teenagers who all think he’s the coolest guy in the world, even if they’d never say that out loud (but there’s a couple who would, and definitely have). what’s not to love?

you two would SO get along. as the leader of team akuta for the cleaners, enjin’s known in the series for being cool (as mentioned before), a crazy driver, and a guy who’s pretty easy to talk to and something of a social butterfly — he likes to talk. he’s even called “the social fiend” at one point in the manga by a character expressing disbelief that anyone could be a pain in the butt for him to deal with or talk to. “difficult for enjin? enjin the social fiend? that enjin?” so i think you’d naturally hit it off with him, especially with how you mentioned being the one to make sure no one gets left out — he does a lot of that too. he doesn’t always say the right things in strange or awkward social situations, but he’s smart and he does mean well. (he himself has said that he’s not great with the complicated emotional aspect of relationships, but he’s working on it.)

and you having a fun fact or relevant tidbit of info about a given situation? dude, he’d be so into it. anytime something new comes up in conversation or if a cleaning job takes an unexpected turn, I can see him turning to you and asking “so, smarty-pants, you got anything on that?” or smirking about it if you volunteered info about something without anyone asking. he’d find it so cute, I can def see that and you being “the bag friend” and always being prepared for things becoming really endearing to him. if you ever happened to not have something, the next time you see him he’d just casually hand you whatever it was you were missing and be like “here, so you can keep it in your bag stash. honestly at this point it’s weirder if you don’t have something when someone needs it…” lol. like I said, he’s perceptive. it’s the little gestures like that.

he’d be so down to go party with you if that’s what you wanna do, he’d hold your drink and watch while you go dance and might even get out and dance with you. but if you’d rather stay in and just chill he’d be down for that too. he seems like he’d be a cuddlebug so yall could just curl up on one of your beds and hang out til you both fall asleep. and if you need space on your own? he’s cool with that, he’ll let you know where he’ll be if you wanna come find him, and then leave you alone if you need him to. oh yeah and he also likes to play loud music while he drives, so you could just go for a drive and rock out and he’d be so happy with that too lol.

you guys would have a suuuper flirty dynamic, with probably lots of inside jokes and references no one else understands. the rest of his team would be so sick of yall lol I just know it (in a good way tho). it’s that type of relationship where if you’re on opposite sides of the room and someone does something weird or says something you have an inside joke about, you guys automatically look at each other and he’s just got this stupid grin on his face and raises his eyebrows at you, like, yeah, you caught that too?

I can see him offering you to smoke with him too. if you’ve never done it before he’ll laugh at you when you start coughing the smoke out, but he’d smack you on the back and show you how to inhale it just right. “you get used to it. here, I’ll take it if you don’t want it, you need some water?” sometime he’d offer you his after he lights it up and takes a drag, then if you take it and share the rest of it with him he’d think about it all day, only realizing as he lights another one later that technically that means you guys kissed indirectly. then he’d be thinking about that for the rest of the night. actually I have so many thoughts about smoking with him I might have to write a separate post about that,,
