loki + clint - your old old old ex-circus au
oh man, are you talking the one I vaguely explored in The Walking Wounded way back in the day? that is a blast from the past (but such a fun one)!
for a little background - this was the one where basically Loki ended up on Earth much earlier and recruited Clint before SHIELD did - I have headcanons about Clint basically running with various gangs after leaving the circus (where he grew up with his brother after running away from home). Loki arranged for Clint to be in a dangerous situation so he could save Clint’s life and thus have a very loyal follower to arrange his plans, which in this verse are a lot more complicated and involve trying to both play Earth’s authorities and Thanos without the show of an invasion.
(he wants to wind up with the power and without a leash.)
Loki also, in order to extra assure Clint’s loyalty, starts up a sexual relationship with him. he is attracted to Clint, but it’s also a calculated decision, and of course there is the bodyguard power dynamic.
what I like about this AU is the mixture of the way that it’s a calculated and manipulative move on Loki’s part (all of them), but there is an edge of the genuine and also of desperation for companionship, especially companionship he can count on - and manipulation and deception is how Loki knows he can be sure of trustworthiness.
Clint doesn’t know that Loki set him up for this. for him - he’s valuable, he’s wanted, and Loki lets him know both things pretty effusively. Loki knows Clint needs validation, and he is happy to give it to him. it’s easy, it’s cheap, and it continues to ensure Clint’s loyalty. (and he does mean it.)
Clint’s kind of started to love Loki, a little, which is...problematic to say the least, but he’s rolling with it. Clint’s not used to having leaders who care about him. he’s not used to being in what seems like a long term situation where he’s important. and having Loki’s attention as much as he does is really, really flattering.
Loki, meanwhile, has started to get attached to Clint in ways he didn’t fully expect, which complicates his plans a little, but...not that much. he’ll figure out a way to get Clint through all of this in one piece. he can manage that. Clint is his, he belongs to Loki, and Loki takes care of his own.
it’s just that caring about people is dangerous, and he’s not sure he wants to be doing it now.
bruce banner!
How I feel about this character: he is amazing and deserved way more screen time than he got. he is underappreciated, and i will forever be butthurt over bruce not getting bigger story arc
All the people I ship romantically with this character: well... nat? unpopular opinion but i liked them in aou
My non-romantic OTP for this character: tony... science bros always!
My unpopular opinion about this character: .... i don’t think i have one, i love the man
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: i wish he moved into the avengers tower with the rest of og avengers and that they lived happily ever after in a sitcom
send me a character
dc or mcu?
Ahhh sorry for the late answer! We published an ask game and then went to see John Wick haha.
Anyway! MCU by miles. Wonder Woman and Aquaman were great, and Ezra as Flash? Magnifique. But those movies? Oof…
Make me choose, ____ or ____ .
