So I know it’s been a bit barren on this blog. Things are quite busy and I’m trying to sort things out so as to have periods of steady content. I’ve noticed that I haven’t drawn enough of my OCs. That’s gotta change, you need to know about them and I need to get more practice. So let’s get to one! Up there is Evelyn Danielle, a toon spy/journalist. Although she resembles a human and can blend quite well with them, she is able to as exaggerated and quirky as any other toon could be. Under the read-more you can find more information about her weapons and also get some insight into the production of this.

She has a wide array of tools under her belt, ranging from a snub-nose revolver, a switchblade, a codec device for incoming missions, a pen that can also shoot small tranquilizer darts (that resemble bees) and a magnifiying glass that she can grow in size to the point that it can either be used as a melee weapon or can create a heat beam. 

Along with her weapons, she also comes armed with toon dynamite pals (coming in three sizes: mini, normal and mega). There’s your standard dynamite stick, dynamite pack, and timed bomb but the one on the far right there is what’s called the Vionukdya. It is a glowing violet nuclear plutonium-rod style Russian dynamite that is activated by giving his little hat a good couple of pats. Upon doing so, it is impossible to defuse it unless you have a special vodka that can do so. But you have to give him the right amount! Too little and the explosion only is weaker, too much and he’ll puke all over the floor and anyone touching that will become a Chernobyl abomination with multiple arms, slack jaws and FLAMING EYEBALLS.

Note on production: Having acquired a tablet in December, I figure I would put it to use on some pictures. It’s a bit hard for me to get used to it. I mean the awkward positioning is one thing, like unless you have a solid surface it’s hard to get some lines down, but it’s more that I do my work on a mouse so I get more comfortable trying to get certain things down there. I’ve come up with a strategy: sketch with the mouse, line with the tablet, add in details and color with either one. The more I practice I guess the better I’ll be at handling it. But still, gr8 gift, loving the lines. Currently went with flats for convenience, I should get around to a more complex colored picture at some point.

I asked @eyesor to give me a little bit of palette help as I figured that Evelyn was looking a slight off with the tan skin and violet hair & eyes. He came back to me with this and I figured that I’d run with it.  I think it helps make her look more toon-like, which is the point. Coupled with the glasses, the whole look really works.

Whole family went up to Uncle Alex's dad's house while he was house sitting to take advantage of the 100° weather and swimming pool! Reina had fun and proceeded to have me knock out with her on the hammock in the background. It was a long enough drive to have us feeling like we were on vacation.
