[like imparting psychic wisdom] for a while now, prism has been flirting on and off with both coupé and waterboy, largely for fun, not really taking it seriously bc she thinks theyre all good friends and the two of them show no deviation from their usual behavior (brick wall and flustered mess) to show they reciprocate
eventually coupé (completely smitten with prism) Finally catches on to what's going on and so loudly and publicly (somehow missed by prism for maximum comedy) declares waterboy her Love Rival, and that they would now have to fight (not physically) for the fair lady's affections.
the problem is, prism's birthday is coming up . . . and neither of them know her all that well . . .
so!! the two of them (intensely socially mal-adjusted as they are) end up teaming up in order to grapple with the impossible question of what to get the girl who already has it all (fame, money, talent, hobbies, etc.)
