Once the pet kitten of a wealthy family, Tama's life was thrown into chaos when it was discovered that they had been hiding rebels and refugees within their house. The situation quickly got out of hand, leading to a shootout and the house getting destroyed. Even though he survived, Tama had lost not only his family and home, but also an entire back leg. Luckily, a kind robotic refugee who had escaped in the confusion took the injured kitten with them and adopted him into their life. For a couple years, Tama and his new owner traveled around, eventually getting a robot leg and a neckerchief to commemorate his new life.

However, the end to those dangerous but exciting days came in the worst way. The law had finally caught up with the two in an abandoned mine that they were using as a temporary hideout. There was barely any time to react before the bullets started flying, so though he tried to lead his friend to safety like they had done for him years ago, it was of no use. The mine finally gave in during the fight, sending down piles of rock onto those inside. By some miracle, Tama was not completely crushed, though part of his tail was buried under the wreckage and he had suffered a neck wound that was somehow not immediately fatal. However, time would not be kind to the feline if he was left trapped and untreated. Nearby, his owner had also survived, though they were much worse off. Despite this, they crawled out from under the rubble and freed Tama through painful but necessary means. Then, using the last of their strength, they made their way outside with the bloodied cat in their arms and patched him up with a first aid kit they had on hand. The last bit of wound dressing had just barely been finished being applied when the robot finally gave in and collapsed on the ground, officially broken beyond repair. Weak and tired, Tama gave into exhaustion soon after, falling into a dreamless sleep.

Early the next morning, Tama woke up, dazed and in pain. He did nothing but lay on his side for a good while, staring at the body of the one who had saved him not once but twice. Finally, hunger and thirst drove the feline to get up no matter how much it hurt. He started hobbling in the direction of the last place he and his owner had crashed: a ruined town not too far away. He has now been residing there for a few months with only a slightly torn ear to show for the few fights with other animals that have tried to steal his resources. These days, he’s wary of any humans or humanoids, though he gets extra aggressive at any who resemble the ones that tore both his families apart.

"You're certainly a strange cat..." Lapis kneels down close to the corrupted gem, seemingly believing its just a cat, "Are you lost from home, cat?" (-badlydrawnjoot, Lapis)

The cat-like creature quickly turns and rises to their feet in alarm. Upon spotting the Lapis, they quickly enter an aggressive stance and make various growling and hissing sounds.

...Yeah, they are not happy.

(It took ages and there’s plenty of mistakes, but here’s uncorrupted Cat’s Eye. They’re built to chase down targets and wear them out for other gems to deal with. As for the limb enhancers despite being an Era 1 gem, just pretend they’re extremely early versions of the modern ones.)

some stuff about cat’s eye i guess???

-The bubbles are still a thing, though rather than Air Magic™ it’s a result of Cat somehow keeping the bubbling ability that gems have but stronger, though corruption has made it so that the ability gets more wildly unpredictable the bigger and/or farther Cat makes the bubble. -I have no goshdarn clue which Diamond Cat served tbh. I’m leaning towards White Diamond maybe based solely on the observation that Diamonds have gems that are loosely grouped by color (in show, anyhow) and it would make sense for White to get gems from the black to white color group buuut idk. I might just make ‘em forget who they served lmao. -Aside from Bubbles Of Doom, Cat is pretty weak for a corrupted gem, so it prefers intimidating gems and humans away, which causes some more problems due to their small stature. Not to say that it can’t leave a nasty set of scratches, though.
