... IT'S
NOT OFTEN YOU WAKE UP
IN THE SNOW
❝Have I actually been here before, long ago...?❞ These memories are so fresh, but logically... They’re from nearly two decades ago. The places where they’re supposed to fit in her mind and in her heart are jumbled, like a child attempting to shuffle a deck of cards. An ache was beginning to spread across her skull, dull and persistent. Aqua’s hand trembled only slightly as she pressed her fingers to her temples in an attempt to relieve the pain. Similarly, the feeling in her heart would not subside-- Bittersweet, as if she were now looking at Spirale through a lens of nostalgia. Of having been here before, in a happier time, like so many other places.
❝I can’t... I don’t understand. I would have remembered.❞
The time runs out. The curse finally lifts.
A sparkle, a glow - and the tiny cyan heart returns to Daisy’s chest. He gasps, hugging himself, his breathing quickens...
It turns to hyperventilating fast as his emotions return tenfold.
At least it is over.
[ ♒︎ ] – Just like that, it’s over. The floating island comes crashing down, the hordes of otherworldly creatures dissipating in a shower of gold and silver, the desperate screams of the GPU as all their efforts went up in smoke.
One would think that the sudden strip of power would be like taking a weight off their shoulders, a feeling of being lighter and less encumbered. After all, it was pieces being taken away. It was being relieved of something, of hanging out to dry.
But it isn’t. After two weeks of feeling somewhat normal, of feeling a sense of rightness as she lived up to the duty she had been charged with since childhood, despite being on a World so far from home... Helplessly she had watched as Rainfell disappeared, the connection severed in a blaze of petals and light. In its place was a wooden sword, split in the middle, only a keychain attached to the hilt to remind her of what had existed previously. Goosebumps rose on bare skin as wind whispered past where armor had once been. Tears burned in her eyes, though she willed them not to fall.
It was the heaviest Aqua had ever felt.
...MY EVERYTHIng hurts.
