It was hard to be separated from Matt, the two couldn’t keep their hands quiet (which she was never going to complain about that) BUT, they had to behave since it was Lottie’s birthday party, which was Lottie’s style to convert it into a benefit gala. She had nothing against it so be it. All she cared was to her sisters to be happy. When she encountered herself alone, she walked around until she found one of her sisters, the youngest one near the bar. Walking towards her, a wide and gentle smile appeared on her face as she looked at her. “My oh my! You look beautiful Nell!” she said hugging her sister happily.
The blonde needed some air after dancing for a while, air and a drink to be more exact. Even though she thought the night would be hard on her, she was having a nice time and although she still owed Charlotte a drink, she first needed to catch her breath. She was heading outside when she bumped into someone and once she looked up who it was, she gave him a smile. “Look at you, Jeremy!” she said complimenting her friend’s attire.
Everything was going smoothly and Amelia loved it. She loved that every single part of the party was going well, and she absolutely loved to be in every detail. That’s why she was standing there, glass of champagne in one hand and her sight surrounding the place and while she was doing that, an initial shock passed through her body when she saw her. Approaching towards her, she grabbed another glass of champagne and handed it to her. “Sofia...what brings you here?”
Upon arriving at the venue, Remus and James had gone their separate ways for a moment. It was good for the two of them to catch up with people they hadn’t seen for a while on their own terms. Good that they could happily float together and apart in a crowd of people that they mostly adored. Remus still wasn’t over the ceremony and how wonderful the whole thing had been. He only hoped that, should he be lucky enough to marry someday, his wedding would be so lovely.
He wondered from table to table greeting and catching up with a few folks from the Order and others he hadn’t seen in far too long. Upon finding Sybil in the middle of everything, Remus greeted her with a large smile and tight hug. He pulled back and patted her shoulder. “Good to see you again.” Remus nodded to her. “Thank you again for giving me that Drought of Peace. It worked wonders. Do give the owner my best, they really know what they are doing.” He pointed out with a smile.
‘If you are happy, dance. If you are sad, dance. It will get your mind off thoughts, it will make you free’ That was the mantra Olivia always had, no matter how hard things had been for her, she always danced, it gave her freedom and clarity when she needed it and tonight it wasn’t any different. After the initial shock of seeing Charles with his fiancee, she decided to shake any negative thoughts, take a few drinks and go to the dance floor. She was on her way when she saw Elliot dancing there, so taking courage she approached him and started dancing at his side. “Elliot! Nice moves!” Liv complimented her friend.
Was it stupid that Remus had been nervous to ask James to go with him to the wedding? Probably. Did it bring Remus a great deal of happiness knowing that they were, in fact, here together? Yes, yes it did. James was like having a safety blanket. Something calming and steady that Remus could lean on if the crowds became to much or he couldn’t worm his way out of a conversation. Silly, really, to be worried about being uncomfortable here of all places. Most of the attendants were his friends and those who weren’t seemed to be Frank’s family. All of which seemed just as pleasant as Frank and Alice. He shouldn’t have been worried but anxiety had its way with Remus’s mind at the best of times.
Still the ceremony was beautiful. The food at the reception was perfectly cooked and too good. Everyone seemed happy to simply be enjoying themselves and Remus got to take it all in with James close by most of the time. After dinner, Remus stood up as a music started to play and a few people found there way towards the dance floor. Bodies jumping and moving around to the rhythms of whatever they were playing up front. “James Potter,” Remus turned to his date for the evening. “Will you do me the honour of dancing with me?” Remus asked in a slightly over dramatic tone. As if he was asking him to the yule ball or something like that.

Charles took note of how she wouldn’t look at him. That pained him. Perhaps she had moved on. The small good part of him hoped she had to find happiness but the other outweighed and would kill anyone that touched her then show her just how she belonged to. His comment struck a nerve. So maybe she wasn’t. He moved over to her and bent to whisper in her ear, “Perhaps I should take you over my knee and show everyone here just who you belong to especially with that sassy mouth.” He hasn’t slept with Sofia and had no plans of doing so, but it was hard going without sex since before Liv, he was sleeping with whoever he could. Then he met Liv and she became his one and only. Now he was feeling pretty miserable and wanted to give into the urges. It was hard for him not to go to the woman that he was supposed to be with intimately.

It was really hard to not meet his eyes, to be closer to him, to forget everything and be in his arms, but she couldn't, she couldn't do what her mom did. But how could she move on when weeks ago she told him she was in love with him? Did he really think she moved on that fast? One thing she was sure of, he was jealous, which made her feel at ease for a moment. What she didn't expect was that in front of everyone he'd whisper in her ear. The closeness was killing her, her heart was racing at the speed of light and her core sent her a shiver down her spine. There was nothing more that she wanted than to be with him, in every sense. But they needed to have a talk, because she couldn't allow be the mistress, that's why they went on separate ways. There were things she needed to understand first before she decided to give in to him that night. "Before doing that, we need to talk...in your office" she murmured in his hear.

Charles didn’t want to have a mistress which is often what high powered executives had. The wives agreed to it so they had the power and ranking in society but it was kept to a blind eye. Secret vacations, second homes that were kept up for them- it was something his father indulged in after his mother grew ill. She had encouraged it. At the time it was something Charles couldn’t quite possibly understand. He didn’t want that kind of life for himself. He wanted someone that truly wanted him. That just loved and cared about him back. Hearing her words, he pulled back and nodded. He began to make his way towards the offices. He didn’t care who saw him headed there After all he was part of the business so it was likely some business had come up. The club wasn’t the only thing he kept up with. He went inside, leaving the door open for her to come in as he poured himself another drink this one stronger than what was being served downstairs which is what he wanted. This was a talk he was sure he wouldn’t like.

Her memories about her mother kept resurfacing since the day he told her he was engaged. Olivia saw her mother cry alone in the middle of the night, her mother's heart broken into pieces until one day she confronted Jake's mom...ended up in a disaster and from that moment she swore something like that would never happen to her. But faith simply had something else ready for her and that was why she was on this situation. When he pulled back and started walking towards his office, she followed him, if someone saw them, so be it, she was tired of pretending, of hiding. Once they got there, she stepped in and walked further. She observed him as he poured a glass of whiskey. That was the man she loved, that was the man she wanted to spend her life with, to have a family, to grow old together, but things weren't easy and that hurt her. It hurt her that she couldn't be with him, that he had a fiancee. But that wasn't what it brought them there on that moment. First she wanted to know something. "Do you really think I fucked Jake? Or that I'm fucking him?" she asked with curiosity.

Charles brought the tumblr to his lips as he let the liquid flow through him, warming him up. He probably shouldn’t be drinking that much tonight and knows that Charlotte would have his ass, but it was often what got him through his days. He moved over and shut the door behind her and handed her the glass knowing they’ve shared worse than a glass of bourbon. “Do I think you’re fucking him no. Have you in the past? I don’t know.” He said honestly as he leaned against his desk with his hands wrapped around the wood as he took her appearance in for the first time that night. God she looked gorgeous. “I haven’t fucked her.” He said looking away from her for a moment before turning his gaze back to her. “I should be because it’s what I’m supposed to do. We’re supposed to be the new power couple in Vegas that’s going to be like royalty.”

Once he closed the door behind her, Olivia walked further into his office, her mind bringing good old memories of them there. She was coping with this heartbreak with work at her dance studio, exhausting herself to not think and not feel the ache she had been carrying. As he offered her his glass, she gave him a soft smile and then took a sip, the bourbon immediately burning her throat as it slide. "Well we do have a relationship..."she mentioned almost casually. She really wanted to know what was the grade of jealousy that man had. It was almost hilarious but he didn't know what type of relationship Jake and Olivia had, so this was interesting. She took her time to admire his features as he leaned against the desk and oh boy, he was an Adonis. It was a sigh of relief when he said he didn't fuck her, so he had been faithful to Olivia as much as Olivia was faithful to him. But that last comment hurt her. "So you are willing to do that? To fuck her because it's something you should do?"

Charles laughed humorously, “A relationship?” He shook his head as he fell deep in thought. “Last I heard about him he doesn’t have relationships with women. He is the type to fuck then dump.” He didn’t care to learn about the lawyer since he had one in his pocket that had his well being in mind. Jake was for the club and for that he respected and just stayed out of the way. His grip on the wood tightened as he pondered on her words, “It’s not like it would be a job.” He said with no emotion held in his voice. “If I had to do I could have an heir then yes. That is not something I can ask you to very well do is it?” He asked with a slight incline of his head. While he knew that Liv would likely do and be that for him, he didn’t want to ask her to do that especially given the situation.
Olivia — 04/30/2021
" Don't laugh. I'm being serious, Charles. I do have a relationship with Jake. Not the one you are thinking though."she said softly. It was her time to let him in, even if it wasn't the right place to tell so. Letting out a small sigh, she then placed her gaze into his beautiful eyes. "He is my brother. Half brother to be exact". It was the first time she said that out loud and she didn't feel any hate. "My mom was his father's lover. That is why I don't want to be a lover or mistress." she said to him. "I saw my mom suffer secretly all of my life. And I don't want to go through the same as her. Though where I am now is quite painful and heartbreaking" she admitted out loud. " Remember when you asked what did I want? And my reply was you? I'm here for the long run. I am in love with you. I want a family with you and grow old together with you." She said before finishing her glass of bourbon.(edited)

Charles’ eyebrows raised at hearing that Jake was her half brother. Now the statement of him asking if she was fucking him was ludicrous. He listened to what she had to say and suddenly everything made sense. “I see.” He finally said as he looked anywhere but at her. “I wouldn’t ever ask you to be my mistress. Even though you would have my heart and my body, you deserve more than that.” He reached out and brushed his knuckles across her cheek. “What if I can’t give you that?” He asked out of curiosity. “What if all I can give you is for you to be my lover?”(edited)

Olivia — Yesterday at 12:04 AM
She started looking everywhere but him, the glass now empty, placed on the desk before she stepped away from being close to him, she couldn't be near the man she loved without feeling her heart broken. She let him in, poured her heart and all she had as a reply was that. Maybe it was time for her to open her eyes and realize she needed someone who wouldn't hurt her, though the process was going to be very painful, but repeating her mother's story, suffer the way her mother did...that wasn't what she wanted and deserved. But it was needed one simple touch, not even a touch, a brush on her cheek and she was completely disarmed against him. "I don't know...I simply don't know..."
Charles — Yesterday at 8:15 PM
Charles nodded. Of course he knew he was seemingly cold against her, though he was growing that way with everyone. It was better for people to not be close to him since he tends to hurt those he grows close to. He stepped away from his desk and leaned against the door with his hand on the door knob, “I’m not making my choice, Liv. I’m just asking so I know where your heart is.”
Olivia — Yesterday at 9:01 PM
It was hard to be near him and be cold...specially when a simple touch could disarm her but she tried to recover from his touch and grabbed the glass she left on the desk and went to pour another drink, because lord knows she needed it. She took that drink as fast as she could before looking directly into his eyes. "Do you really have to ask where my heart is? Seriously Charles? My heart, no matter what I want or deserve...is with you..."she said trying to stay calm. She couldn't believe he was still asking these type of things after knowing how much she loved him. Maybe she needed a third drink after all.
Charles — Yesterday at 9:12 PM
Charles knew he shouldn’t have asked that, but his heart was giving him utter turmoil. His jaw ticked as she spoke. His eyes closed as he thought of what to do. What to say. Nothing he could say would ever be right. He glanced at the clock then back at her. “Sofia is going to be wondering where I am.” He said softly, not trying to hurt her but he had to get back to her so no questions were raised. “I love you, Olivia. Nothing or no one could change that fact. You showed me that maybe I am worth something. Maybe I’m selfish because I want you while I’m promised to another and I wish I could have you both but that is impossible.”
Olivia — Yesterday at 10:31 PM
Olivia grabbed the bottle but hardened her grip on it as she heard the name of his fiancee. All she could do was nod, of course...no one knew Olivia was with him. She was trying to listen to him but the pain in her heart was too much to handle. That's how her mother suffered and the story itself was repeating. Hearing him say he loved her, she wondered what kind of love was that one; maybe a selfish and a cruel love, because no pure love could feel like the way both were feeling. "I see...You..."she said before looking back at him, "You should go...your fiancee is waiting for you..."

Charles — Today at 2:04 AM
Charles nodded. He didn’t have the fight left in him currently. How he was wasn’t like him. Opening the door, he was going to let her take the time she needed in his office. Not like it hadn’t been a sanctuary for her between her dances prior. “I’ll be seeing you, Olivia.” He stepped back out where the music was thumping against the walls. It quelled the hammering of his own heart. Had he just made a mistake? Time would tell how that went.
As soon as James and Remus had parted ways at the reception, he’d spotted Doe just across the room form him. Once laying eyes on her, Remus felt a sting of guilt for how long it had been since they’d seen one another. Yes, he made sure to send letters keeping her up to date with life but owls only traveled so fast and nothing compared to sitting down one on one with her. He didn’t think about anyone else as he made his way across the room towards one of his closest friends. No, Dorcas was more of a sister to him than a friend. Chosen family is what she was. They might as well have been blood. A thought that made that pang of guilt throb once more.
He slipped through the crowd and hoped that she hadn’t seen him coming. Not before he got behind her and covered her eyes with his hands. “You cannot begin to guess who this is.” Remus told her over the chatter of others. “No way on earth you’ll ever deduce it, Doe. Might as well just give up now.” He went on in a teasing tone, his hands still covering her eyes for a long moment before moving away so she could turn and look at him.
