Through all her travels, Susie's mind flitted from one thought to another, never resting for long. This was typical of her. She would dive headfirst into something, only to get bored just as quickly. But there were a few things that stayed with her, lingering in her chaotic mind. Susie knew she wasn’t a great communicator, and she had no desire to be. In relationships—both romantic and platonic—her feelings were always the first to be pushed aside. Yet with Linc, there were moments when she wished she could be brave enough to say what she felt. But by then, it was always too late.
Susie went abroad with nothing but memories of him occupying her thoughts. Now, she was back, and just her luck, there he was, standing in line at the concession stand. Without a second thought—without any thought at all, really—her feet began to move before her brain could catch up. She quickly stepped up beside him, nudging his shoulder with hers.
"Hi," she greeted him with a smile. "Long time no see?" she added, her voice tentative, testing the waters.
