babe was double checking her small messenger bag for all her essentials: phone, wallet, tickets, extra battery and hand sanitizer. she looked around the apartment for a certain brunet. she huffed out a sigh before raising her voice “arlo, if I don’t get close enough to touch chance because of your late ass, i’m changing the lock on the door again. hurry up!” she threatened glancing at the time on her phone obviously impatient. babe was three hours and fifteen minutes early for the free concert but she wanted to grab food and a good spot in the front. “ARLO!” she yelled again a little more whine in her voice, before she heard a door open, a cold stare prepared for her less than punctual roommate.

babe didn’t know what time it was but the booming bass of the party was silenced and her ears were slightly ringing from it’s absence. she was walking toward her room, or at least she was like fifty percent sure this was the right floor. she had her top hat in one hand and a now cold slice of pizza in the other. she smiled politely at someone in the hallway but her alcohol level was too high to recognize them properly. just as they were about to pass each other she tripped on nothing, or her knees buckled, but either way she now sat on the hallway floor pouting over a ripped fishnet, rug burned knees, and her pepperoni pizza laying face down on said rug.

babe wasn’t mad at the power outage there was a sense of freedom to it, no obligations, just to wait it out. and in the morning it was still bright enough outside that opening the windows dimly lit the living room. the only downside she didn’t think about until the first morning without power was, no coffee machine = no coffee. she shuffled into the living room in her boyfriends sweats and fluffy socks, pulling the earlier riser into a hug to greet him but more so to steal his warmth. her hands slid under arlo’s shirt to warm her cold hands as she pouted slightly “i want coffee”
